Chrysler's CEO Jim Press To Leave By End Of The Year

Chrysler Group Deputy CEO Jim Press is planning to leave the company before the end of the year, The Wall Street Journal reported today, citing three people who have been informed of the plan.

Press, 62, is expected to leave before December, one of the Journal's sources said. Chrysler spokesman Gualberto Ranieri declined to comment on the paper's report.

Press, who spent 37 years at Toyota Motor Corp. and eventually led its U.S. sales operation, joined Chrysler in 2007 after it was purchased by Cerberus Capital Management.

I guess his free flights via private jet and bonuses with company money wasn't enough for him or was too much. I'm sure Toyota has better management when it comes to taking care of it's CEOs.

He should've stayed at Toyota. The current heads of Toyota's American division are sooooo boring. Their press conferences are... BLAH!. JIM Press, on the other hand, can really bring excitement to the crowd. However, I don't blame him for feeling left out when he was with the big boys at Toyota.

We need some younger guys and gals to have positions like this in the auto world. Experience is always good,but so are people with ideas and knowledge. A young motivated design team and management team are what a lot of companies need in addition to people that know how a car actually works and what the public wants. They have guys from AT&T and god knows where else,taking big positions. New car designs and management are going down the drain.
