Comparison Test: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO vs. 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey

Isn't the Taurus much bigger? There is a point in this comparison, but I find it very unfair.

Unbelievable, $46k for a Taurus??? Are you kidding me???
I said this when the car was introduced in the show, IT WILL NOT COMPETE. Yes its an improvement from what it replaced but its not a competitor what so ever!!!!

The top of the line SHO should be priced at $25k, and the regular Taurus top of the line $20k.

Ford should stick to its true competitors i.e. GM and Chrysler, nothing outside of that circle at all.

The SHO has all the advantages except weight on the Infinity and still lost. Also it costs more. No point in owning it unless for that so called american pride.

Ah..ha..ha...ha.. You comparing a Ford to an Infiniti? I don't care if this Ford has more horse power and faster from 0-60, it still a Ford.

Secondly, the G37 should be compare to the Cadillac CTS instead.

If you Hyundai put 1002 hp in their car is that mean it equal to Bugatti Veyron? NO...it still a Hyundai.

Nice try Ford but I would get the G37 over the Ford anyday.

This may have been a valid comparison back in 1987 when there weren't as many competitors for a car like the Taurus...but geez...I don't care if you are the biggest Ford or GM fanboy, who would pay $46k for a Taurus?

At that price range you can buy a G37 sedan and still have enough to buy a new econobox for commuting/errands! This just doesn't make sense.

Wouldn't anyone looking at the SHO likely buy something like a loaded Hyundai Genesis, which will cost a whole lot less?

Man...I just don't understand who Ford believes the market for this new Taurus car is. It sure is an improvement from the old Taurus, but I just can't see a real world scenario where even if you exclude imports, it would be picked ahead of other models including their own Fusion.

Wow, it amazes me at the brand bias against Ford. I would think that people would be rooting for an American car company that didn't take a bail out and is putting out much higher quality products than it had been. Yet you people act like Ford has never made a high quality product or won a comparison.

Look the SHO is a class size larger. That right there indicates that this comparison should not have been made. If they wanted to compare the Infiniti M or other similarly sized car then the comparison may have had some validity. Given the comparison at hand the SHO did great for what it was up against.

For people complaining about price. Hey that is what it costs for an AWD, twin turbo V6 large sedan. If you don't need the turbo engine, AWD, luxury features then get the regular Taurus which will start around $25k. Ford isn't looking to sell 100k SHO sedans but more like 5k, as all SVT cars are low production vehicles.

Purchase what you want. if you like the Ford then so be it. Last I heard, Ford was outselling just about everyone, so I would think that would include Infiniti.

An Upmarket Ford, yeah they better make great cars or they will end up like: Austin, Healy, De Soto, Dussenberg, Studebaker, Eagle, Merkur, MG, Packard, AMC, Edsel, Plymouth, Nash, etc....
