Now THAT is a party piece!

That design must have caused many headaches for the engineers, but they solved it, and it works a treat.

Although not the most elegant hard-top roof operation, it certainly looks the most sophisticated.

I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut the Lexus designers are busy working overtime to copy BMW.

Did they?

What did the G6 pioneer exactly?

The flat trunk looks stupid. Actually, wait, that flat table top just comes alive.

I thought I'd like a hardtop on the 3 series, but BMW still managed to screw it up. The lines on the fixed roof look better, this roof is kind of squarish which doesn't fit right, atleast from that angle.

Surprisingly, I agree. Hopefully, it looks better in person- perhaps this is an awkward angle.

Hey Bangle, look familiar?

Of course, the boring flat Lexus trunk is a work of art once you put a blue and white propellor on it.

Man huu76, you really are a spiteful and sour person.

You don't even need provocation to offer us your ill-conceived insights, pointless comparisons, and warped sense of design.

wait a second, did any1 notice that the 335i on the left of this convertible, has kind off different tailights????? not a totaly different 1 , but the sharp end on the 335i coupe looks different. I dunno, but im starting to feel either blind or weird lol.

Anyway great car :D any1 noticed where they place the shark fin? lol on the trunk lol. I think the 335 is the best looking bmw.

M53R-

You are correct. The 335i convertible has different tailights than the coupe. The coupes taper inward while the convertibles round up. Never noticed until you mentioned it.

I absolutely prefer the design of the coupe.

Neither this, nor the VW Evo look good as 4-place hard-top convertibles. Not a graceful roofline to be found. Leave the hard-top convertibles to 2-seaters only, like the SLK and SL.

looks great with the top down...not good with it up. the rear window looks really odd and makes the flat trunk stick out like a sore thumb. can't really tell if that little bump (antenna?) on the back helps or hurts the look....just seems out of place somehow.

I think it's great. You get the best of both worlds if you live in a cold climate area. The additional weight is not a problem for most convertible buyers. I went with the e92, but kind of wish I waited for this one. Trunk space is down, but you could use the back seat.

Sorry.

They can in the 3 Series (335xi sedan), and I'm 100% sure the 535xi will replace the 530xi, so yes...

The only question mark is whether or not they'd put AWD in the 335i coupe. That would be my perfect winter car.

I doubt they'll put xDrive in the convertible, in any configuration.

Flight 152,
I agree, I've always thought the SC430 was an ugly car.

Matt,
Because I can sense the hypocrisy. The flat trunk will be called beautiful on this car, but the same trunk on the last GS was called "boring". If not for the break in the GS's taillights, this 3series' taillights would look identical.

Why are you comparing this new BMW convertible to a Lexus sedan?

I don't think the trunk on this car is beautiful- the coupe is much more "flowing".

The lights are completely different from any Lexus.

I liked the last-gen GS a lot more than the current model.

Foxy,
Look at the link I posted of the GS' rear end. The lights even have nearly identical 2 levels on the bottom.

I didn't say you did. But judging from the earlier posts, already you can tell that the sheep love this design when they derided it on another car. I've said before, put BMW on any car and they'll say it looks good (even an Aztek).

Aztek does look better than any Lexus ever produced ;)
