DETROIT AUTO SHOW: GM Volt Concept in Action

That is a really good looking car. what kind of top speeds and accelerations should we expect from an electric car like this?

Just two things.

I only watched about the first minute. Was it in slo-mo? The engine sounded like it was reving to go fast.

Secondly, anyone ever try to unplug your car's engine warmer in the winter? It's a bit of a pain.

Aside from those two obversations, if they can do it, all the power to them. I don't think it'll make hybrids obsolete though, as Wagoner arrogantly (sort of jumped the gun maybe?) already stated.

The Volt is a hybrid, just a serial hybrid instead of a parallel hybrid like the Prius, Civic, Altima, etc.

Top speed 120 + mph, 0-60 mph in under 9 seconds. The electric motor isn't noisy (the EV1 made a very quiet whir at low speed and hummed gently at high speeds.)
Make it so, #1! I'll buy a Volt.

The sound you here on that video is not the car. The volt runs in electric mode only. It does nor have a gas motor that runs the car. The small gas moter in the car generates electricity. That was just a bad video.

The sound I hear is a motor. It gets loud when the car is near and quiter when the car is further away. It's not background noise. It's louder than most cars with engines. The EV1 was quite. This sounds like an unbalanced Chinese washing machine.
