DeLorean gullwing could make a comeback
Wanting to own a rear-engined gullwing DeLorean since his teenage years, 40-year old Danny Botkin finally got to live his dream when he eventually found a restored DeLorean modeled after the car made famous in the ‘Back to the Future’ movies.

He has since moved to become the manager of a repair and refurbishing shop affiliated with DeLorean Motor Co., a company based in Texas that rebuilds old DeLoreans, and is now planning to bring back production of the iconic car in a limited run. The last DeLorean was manufactured in 1982 in Northern Ireland, but only 9,000 of the original cars were every produced and only 6,500 are said to be still in circulation.

Boy I hope not.

They just aren't cool anymore.

Maybe if you're in your 50s, have Hall and Oates on your iPod and some disposable income lying around but...why?

cmon lewish, it could be refreshed just like any other car. It would be modernized, and I have a feeling it would do great.

By the way, it was Huey Lewis and the News, not Hall and Oates :) lol im old

I know someone who has one and it is really cool. Pictures just don't do it justice- you don't get a sense of how wide and just how low the car actually is. Now, the front hasn't aged well, but were they to update it right it could be a very cool and striking car.

I saw that company on the History Channel. They were doing a show on the 80's. They bought all of the spare parts and engines and can actually build a "new" one for you. They can even tune the original engine to produce more power, which was one of the major weaknesses of this car.
