I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

I'll believe it when I see it. My Jeep GC had a claimed 17mpg, but nowadays its closer to 11.

Even if it true, the next Prius gen is getting close 200 mpg. Same here, I belive when I see it and test drive it first hand.

"Same here, I belive when I see it and test drive it first hand."

And you believe what you said about the Prius, even when there has not been a single SKETCH of the thing, let alone engine specs???

Hypocritical...

BTW, this is a Jeep SUV, not a made-for-mileage sedan, so I wouldn't expect it to be able to hang with the Prius (MPG). Why would you?

I'm surprised that Jeep would still be permitted to use the Bluetec brand. Wasn't MB trying to distance itself from Chrysler eventhough it's still a minority shareholder?

If the batter only gets 40 miles, it'll probably be a 1.2L diesel engine then (like the Lupo 3L's tiny engine).

Chrysler probably bought the rights to the Bluetec name. BMW and Audi did, too. VW is using "BlueMotion."

"If the batter only gets 40 miles, it'll probably be a 1.2L diesel engine then"

And is this a bad thing, as long as it gets the desired mileage? I think not.

I wonder what the estimated MSRP would be for a production version -- probably not in the plans? It will probably be VERY light weight, so safety on major roads & highways will be a question too. Going with BlueTec smart idea. Combining clean diesel & hybrid a good affordable solution for much better MPG. I'd love to have a power plant like that in my LR3.
