Detroit Death Pool
Anyone who has spent any time in Detroit recently will tell you it is by all apparent indications a dying city. Crumbling buildings, widespread decay and a population in flight make for a depressing landscape. Detroit's fortunes have always been tied intimately to the fortunes of the U.S. auto industry. So it's hardly surprising that a look at Ford's and General Motors' balance sheets will show just as much decay and devastation as a trip through Detroit's worst slums. The only real question is, Which automaker will declare bankruptcy first?

What automaker will declare bankruptcy first? Gee... this isn't a biased article.

JT716, idiot that you are...the Detroit suburbs are gorgeous. Try going to all the Gross Pointes or Bloomfield hills. I bet you wouldn't be allowed to wipe the asses of the people that live there. As for the city of Detroit....its been a shitbox ever since the population demographics changed starting in the '60s.

If anything, the city of Detroit is showing signs of a slow rebirth. Have you been downtown lately? Old, historic buildings are being renovated, bars and restaraunts are opening. For God's sake I was in Greektown a couple weeks ago and the place was booming.

JT716....just wait till GM has a good, profit-generating year for 2007. Just wait till Ford and Chrysler come back in a couple years here. Everyone was ready to put the nails in GM's coffin at the end of 2005 and now all you America hating doubters are having to eat your words. Hey JT716....post something tangible about cars. It's not cute to try to belittle American car companies. Go F*ck yourself you America hating jerk. Why don't you just profess your love of hating America and leave the country. We don't want your here.

Sorry about the post guys, I had just gotten into an argument with someone about the same topic right before I posted. I was a bit upset. Sorry if I insulted anyone.

Caddyman07: surely it can't be as bad as it was right after the Detroit riots back in the early seventies. I drove through there and saw the aftermath right after I picked up my new 1972 Imperial. Anyway, I think GM will survive but Ford will undergo some major corporate upheaval. Chrysler has already been dealt with.
