Carroll Shelby. Really, that's all you have to say.

As many of us already know, we lost another automotive legend late last week after Shelby succumbed to pneumonia. He was 89.

That doesn't mean he wasn't keeping busy, however. For 2013, Shelby dropped on us yet another GT500. What makes this particular version so special is, predictably, the power it boasts. While the 2011 GT500 I drove featured a 550 horsepower, supercharged V8 that was loosely derived after the GT40's powerplant, Shelby really outdid himself in 2013.

That's because the 2013 GT500 has a certified 662 horsepower, 5.8-liter supercharged V8 motor. That simply makes it the MOST powerful production V8 in the world. Now that's a helluva achievement.

It's almost like Shelby held on just long enough to hear the news of this amazing feat, which was announced in late April.

Now with this in mind, it is likely that the 2013 GT500 could become a highly sought after product given it was the last product that the late great had an influence on.

It very well could benefit from what I'll call "the Enzo effect," which happened with the Ferrari F40. Many consider the F40 to be the greatest supercar of all time not only because it is a triumph of engineering and lightweight components but also because it was Enzo Ferrari's last product he influenced before his death.

That said, could the 2013 Shelby GT500 become his MOST collectible vehicle OR will that be left to the Shelby Cobras?
