Today marks a special day in automotive history as the very first shots of the 2015 Ford Mustang leaked online via subscribers of Autoweek. As expected, the photographs that grace the cover and inner pages show a vehicle that seems to blend a bit of the latest Ford design language together into the currently existing, 60s-inspired 'Stang.

But when it all comes together, it seems to leave me — and Agent001 — wanting more.

I was talking to the big cheese earlier and there just seems to be some panache missing. This Mustang doesn't make my heart beat faster and 001 made a great point: The Giugaro Italian Concept was FAR more interesting. After he dug up some old photos from the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show, to me, it was spot on. If you really look at the design it has just enough to make you say "Wow!" but it isn't so far removed from what a Mustang should be.

When I see the pictures of the 2015 Mustang, I can't help but think this is the Fox body part II! And, in the words of 001: "It took seven years to get to this?"

All that said, I am intrigued to hear what the Spies have to say about this. After all, you're the tastemakers and we trust your opinions.

What say you? Did Ford MISS an opportunity to do something AWESOME and WILD (cowhide aside) ?
