Direct-injection and more power coming for 2009 911 Turbo, GT2 and GT3
We’ve already seen the facelifted 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 4S as well as the 911 Tara 4 and 4S. Still to come are the facelifted versions of the 911 Turbo, 911 GT2 and 911 GT3 - but who’s really looking forward to that since Porsche’s design changes aren’t that apparent to the naked eye. However, it’s the mechanical changes where the 2009 911 models shine.
According to AutoCar, the 2009 911 Turbo, GT2 and GT3 will all get direct injection gasoline engines as a par of Porsche’s new plan to increase performance and fuel-efficiency of its cars. All will drop the 6-cylinder M97 powerplant for the new A91 Direct Fuel Injection engines first seen in the 2009 911 Carrera.
The 2009 911 Turbo and 911 GT2 will get a new...

I won't be happy until they put the power of the GT2 into the body of the GT3.
Dare to dream.

Why doesn't Porsche just place another in the front, these cars don't have any luggage space anyway, why not utilize this method put some traction back over the front wheels and help to compensate for flawed dynamics.

The rear engine design isn't as flawed as you think. There is a reason Porsche has stuck with it: the majority of turns involve deceleration which shifts weight to the front of the car. The fact that the 911 has a rear bias means that it is closer to neutral during a turn. Notice I said "closer". There is still a forward bias during a decelerating turn but less so than other designs.
They could easily trim some of that weight imbalance by going for mild hybridization, moving to a 48V electrical system, moving the battery and AC compressor to the front of the vehicle.
It would also probably be a good idea for them to go to a liquid to air intercooler and use ceramic coatings in the cylinder head and exhaust. Smaller radiators up front and small radiators for the LTA IC could be placed at the front of the intake.
IMO, with direct injection and the accompanying 7% power bump, it is really time for Porsche to look for improvements by reducing weight. For example, the 3.6L F6 could become a 3.0L and lose some lbs in the process. Smaller radiators and lighter batteries could be used. The rear seat could (and should) be deleted from the factory.
IMO, the single biggest improvement the next generation 911 turbo could experience is the use of carbon fiber wheels.

Ah, didn't do the math on weight.
-Smaller engine, -25lbs
-Smaller rads, -10lbs
-Delete rear seat, -35lbs
-Lighter battery, -50lbs
-Carbon fiber wheels, -25lbs
-Carbon composite brakes, -15lbs
-CRP hood, -10lbs
-CF roof, -15lbs
Total -165lbs. Stupid fast car.
