Last month, BMW confirmed that the new 2014 BMW M3 and M4 models will be powered by an inline-six engine.

The F80 M3 will debut, in concept form, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, and it might have a surprise under the hood.

According to sources close to our sister-magazine BimmerToday, the powerplant found under the hood is a newly developed 3.2 liter unit, still inline-six, which has its fundamentals in the current M3 engine, the S65 V8.
