Dodge Pulls Out Of Craftsman Racing..Is NASCAR Next?

With the rough economy and high cost of racing, it was only a matter a time before NASCAR started feeling the effects.

Dodge has been a staple in the Craftsman Truck Series but it's peak came between the years of 2001 and 2004 winning 36 of 99 races. Dodge than scaled back to one team in 2008, that team being Bobby Hamilton Racing.

This week it was announced that the team would no longer receive support from Dodge effectively severing Dodge's long standing partnership with the series.

This leaves us to ponder the question: Are the other series next?

I'm not a NASCAR fan (I love F1, WRC, ALMS, etc.). I feel like the Craftsman Racing series just dillutes NASCAR. How many versions of going around an oval at high speed can you succesfully have?

How many lead changes occur in a full season in F1? Probably not as many as in one NCTS race.

CRS112, you are probably right about lead changes. However, did you see Sunday's race from Spa? The duel in the rain in the final laps between Kimi and Lewis was absolutely incredible! Too bad the stewards took away Lewis' victory.

I will admit that I don't watch the sport - so my comment was unappropriate. I respect F1 for the technology - which is second to none. If you follow Nascar - the truck series can be more exciting then the other two divisions. Plus - trucks are a different sector to market to. Your comment would be more appropriate for the Nationwide Series.

I would like to see either Nissan or Honda step up. Already have the Ford/Chevy thing - now all we need is something for Toyota to fight against. Sounds trivial - but racing has always been about rivalry's There was talk a few years ago about Honda stepping up - but that never materialized.
