Dodge and Chrysler's future lineup
Turbulent times at Chrysler since the split with Daimler several months ago are causing the new ownership to rethink its Chrysler brand while continuing the Dodge product blitz. Chrysler models that face elimination or rejuvenation include the Pacifica, the PT Cruiser, the 300 and the Crossfire. Dodge, on the other hand, is set to debut the Challenger SRT in 2008, and the new Viper is back with aggressive styling and improved performance.

Not all is certain at Dodge, however, despite the rosy outlook. The Caliber SRT4 is due for a refresh, as is the disappointing Avenger, both scheduled for the 2010 model year. The Magnum is due for restyling in 2011 but it may be cut altogether.

Why wait until 2009 or 2010 to can certain models? If these models don't sell, why produce more? In my opinion, the Chrysler brand should focus on being a Cadillac or Lexus or Acura, meaning a luxury division. While Dodge should focus on Chevrolet or Toyota or Honda or even Volkswagen, meaning a mainstream brand. Forget Plymouth for now. Jeep should remain an off road identified brand and not come out with to many "luxury Jeeps". Maybe bring back Cherokee name instead of Liberty and the Grand Cherokee should be the step up from the smaller Cherokee. Must simplify product lines. Back to basics

They can't just discontinue production of certain models whenever they want to. Chysler has a contract with the UAW to produce certain models at certain plants until the contract expires. I'm sure Chrysler is foaming at the mouth to get rid of certain cars and workers, when possible.
