Dynolicious, The Ultimate iPhone Application For the Automotive Enthusiast?
OK 001, 00J, and the rest of you who either stood in line or in some cases paid for someone to stand in line for them to get  the latest 3g iPhone.

We have found the killer app for the enthusiast with a well equipped iPhone or even the  iTouch.

Dynolicious is a feature pack application that uses the internal accelerometers incorporated in these devices to track your vehicles performance.  Track 0-60, 1/4 mile times and cornering g force and even calculate theoretical horsepower ratings.

The slick interface and low price of only $12.99 downloaded from iTunes makes it an interesting tool to any enthusiast.  Check out the company blurb below for the details.

Dynolicious is the first automotive performance meter available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Dynolicious uses the hardware built-in to your iPhone to measure the performance characteristics of your vehicle. No external wires or equipment is necessary, simply slip the iPhone into a cradle or cupholder and go!

Some of the performance metrics Dynolicious can measure:

  • 0-60 Acceleration
  • 1/4 Mile Elapsed Time
  • Lateral G's
  • Horsepower
Unlike other accelerometer-based performance meters, Dynolicious uses the advanced data-handling and display capabilities of the iPhone to make the most of your performance testing. Dynolicious maintains a history of test runs, showing you averages and trends in your results. Dynolicious also allows you to enter modifications performed to your vehicle, and will instantly show before-and-after results to easily identify gains or losses.

^ ITs not only for the iPhone. I had this on my HTC tilt half a year ago, it does the same thing that the overhyped Iphone program does but no hp figures. Without entering known variable, the only way it can tell you true horsepower is if you stick the iphone under the rear wheels.

You speak as if you can create this program. Just say you're jealous and move on.

I wonder how accurate this app is? I have $13 to burn. Well maybe, I need 1 gallon of gas :)

I'll give it a shot, as soon as my iphone gets in. It's probably going to be inaccurate and useless like most of the apps available.

Guys, it works on ipod touch too, for those who don't have an iphone (or aren't getting one) but have the ipod touch.

sweet! I'm going to buy this right now... Wish I had thought of this myself. I'm a programmer... I imagine this wasn't very hard to write. I could have been collecting those $12 fees.

16.7@100.9 1/4 mile time in the picture does not seem accurate, but i would still spend $13 on this. Looks pretty cool. I have a Gtech that does the same thing, but this looks better.

just bought it....pretty cool but it is hard to time when to start your run cuz it calibrates, so its best for closed roads and such.

Do you have to press "Go" or anything, or does it automatically start running once if feels you move?

$13 is pretty high for an iPhone application, but if it works the same as a G-Tech, it's a pretty good deal.
