Auto Spies Agent 001 was out spying LA yesterday when he came across this little gem on the sales floor at South Bay BMW in Torrance. No you're NOT mistaken, it is a factory ordered 2011 BMW M3 Coupe in M3 heritage Dakar Yellow with KILLER carbon accents and 335is black kidney grills.2011 Dakar Yellow/Carbon BMW M3 Photo GalleryAs you know a lot of buzz has been circling around about the Frozen Gray matte finished special edition M3 but Agent 001 likes tradition and is diggin' this beauty. Our one criticism of the M3 is that it needed a couple special edition colors when it launched outside of the boring red the launch cars were all painted. All previous editions had exotic color options like Phoenix Yellow, Daytona Violet, Estoril Blue, Laguna Seca Blue, etc.If we bought an M3, we'd want it to stand out.How about you? What say you about this badass yellow coupe?STUD or DUD?BTW, it's not sold so if you want it give Achilles jingle and tell them the Spies sent you.FYI, check the window sticker...The custom color adds $5k to the tally.More photos here:2011 Dakar Yellow/Carbon BMW M3 Photo GalleryDiscuss... 2011 Audi A7 Photo Gallery2011 Ford Explorer Photo Gallery2011 BMW X3 Photo GalleryFisker Karma VIP Sneak Photo Gallery4th Of July SoCal Style Photo GalleryAutoSpies.com Photo GalleriesIf you want to see your photos running on our homepage photo ticker, be sure to upload your photos on the go by sending them to Mobile@AutoSpies.com Share on Facebook

My bad its Estoril blue and it goes perfect with the light gray interior they used to do but it seems like they started it back with the X5M and the X6M— B7FAN (View Profile)

love it( but id never get it, lol), but i must say, the carbon fiber roof would have made it look better...now all they gotta do is bring back the Estoril blue as you guys mentioned and imola red from the e46... the current melbourne red sucks compared to imola red from the last body !!— iamdabest1 (View Profile)

@iamdabest1You're right. Imola was a fantastic color, had more of a bloody hue than the BRIGHT red seen in Melbourne...— Agent00R (View Profile)

I wish more people would order custom paint like this...too bad it is priced ($5K!) to strongly discourage that...— t_bone (View Profile)

78K for an M3, BWAHAHAHAHA. BMW M3 is becoming the quintessential Jersey Shore mobile now. Isn't DAKAR a rally race for off-road.— Whelan (View Profile)

Frozen Gray beater? Any paint beats Frozen Gray because Frozen Gray is a paint finish that isn't ready for prime-time. — LexSucks (View Profile)

I am not diggin' this car. First, I have always thought that the M3 (and the M5) are too understated. I'd like to see the body design be a little bolder for such a high performance car. Second, I don't like the carbon fiber bits. That look is long gone and makes the car look like a Civic. If BMW wants to go carbon fiber, then I want to see state of the art pieces like the entire roof or the entire front end (hood and fenders), or both doors, or something like that. Third, the option prices are ridiculous. $5K for paint? $5K for a few carbon fiber bits? $3,200 for M Drive/Nav? $1,900 for premium sound? And shouldn't an iPod connector be standard on a $58K car in 2010? The only option worth its price is the double-clutch trans. Thanks, but no thanks. — thstone (View Profile)

It is about time we get BMW Individual here in the US without going through a lot of gyrations with BMW NA. The paint is OK, but there are much better hues in the BMW Indivdual color palette. $5,000 for a color of your choice in the Individual color pool is a little steep but it gets you out of the limited standard choices. And people have just gone overboard with the black wheels. Carbon is cool but put the wheels in the Pacific!— 1BadMan (View Profile)

Yonder7: I do remember that car. I thought it was a great looking car. The DTM wide-body look, interior slathered in carbon. And wicked cool carbon fiber seats! But that car had serious limited production, if you wanted one you would have to justify the price. I see one every now & then in the DuPont Registry. That was a really cool ride. I thought that ride was about $275,000 when it came out? Oh, you could import one as the ones I have seen are in Germany which makes sense.Getting an BMW Indivdual car or an M3 is really not about money as it is about getting the color, interior and wheels you want from the custom division of the retired BMW, BMW M & BMW Individual paint & leather palettes. You have to have an understanding that it is going to cost about $5,000 for the paint and $3000-$4,000 for the special interior. And that you get what you want from BMW Individual which is a subsidiary of BMW M. If you want a factory custom color it will not be $495. Order your car with your Individual color and go European Delivery and cruise up down the Autobahn in your BMW Individual E92 M3. That is how to do it! Put some go fast bits on it when it comes home from Germany. You only live once right? And you can't take it with you so have some fun.— 1BadMan (View Profile)
