Electric Rolls-Royce Phantom in the works

According to the latest reports, it appears the Rolls-Royce is currently preparing an electric version of the Phantom sedan.

These words came from Rolls-Royce spokesman, Mr. Richard Carter who added that the Phantom is the ideal car to get an electric propulsion because these type of cars are not used for long distances.

Regarding the technical part, Mr. Richard Carter didn’t want to say anything but it appears that the green technology is going to be borrowed from parent company BMW.

Makes sense in many ways, it's quiet, the car rides smoother the more batteries they cram into it, and it's price tag makes it very cost effective to cram it with batteries.

It's bold, and it's beautiful. I saw a Bentley Flying Spur today. Three reasons I noticed it: (1) I'm a car fanatic, (2) It was very big lengthwise with big wheels in addition to thick tires, (3) It had a nice paintjob. Other than that, it just wasn't as cool as a Rolls. I'm a big sucker for chrome - maybe extra chrome with that shiny black paintjob would've made me a bit more excited.

Great - so the guy with a 95,000 sqft castle that costs 20,000/month to heat, can feel green. This beast will be waiting for him as his private jet lands after a weekend jaunt to San Tropez. What's the point?

yeah, forget about the "green-ness" of it! Look at the torque, since electric motors have the most torque when at a standstill.
