European Union Tells F1 To Become More Environmental

The FIA has welcomed a call by the European Parliament for Formula One to do more to change public attitudes towards environmentally friendly technology in road cars.

A report called 'CARS 21', published by the EU on Tuesday regarding the European automotive sector's future, recognised the role that the FIA had played in encouraging moves to greener technologies and urged more to be done in F1.

Such recognition has delighted FIA president Max Mosley, who has made no secret of the fact that he believes F1 must become 'greener'.

I read somewhere that there are so many greenhouse gasses trapped in the ozone layer that even if we stopped polluting now, it's too late to reverse the effects of global warming. If that's the case, then why even bother? What's the point in denying ourselves of any fun if it won't even matter? Let's keep going with business as usual and burn the gas until it's all gone.

WHY even bother? how about seeing n'orleans go completely under water in 2040 vs 2012?

how about seeing NY, all gulf coast and west coast coastal cities, all of a sudden having to cope with a sea level that's 15 feet higher? or 25 feet?

or maybe, like Dubya and his oil cronies, you'll avoid all problems on Earth altogether by taking a rocket trip to Mars?

Why don't they just turn F1 into a race of push-started coasters without engines. That's the way it will turn out anyway. The F1 honchos feel they have to bow down to the Euro Union bureaucrats who are basically socialists.

EU = Bunch of Socialist politicians with nothing better to do than impose MORE laws, and try to take MORE control over everything. F1 Should put their foot down and tell them to go F**** themselves and threaten with not continuing the sport. See how they feel about that.

Some of you guys in here don't think at all when it comes to non-conventional ways, do you?

Who says that performance will be lowered if they make it more "Greener"? Please prove it to me, if you can by an in-depth engineering analysis of any Engine?

If you can't, than stop doubting and just let them innovate!

not noted by most, is that a HYBRID celica WON a race in japan, beating out by a LARGE time margin, competing cars which included porsches and bmws. the car happened to have super-capacitors, along with toyota hybrid tech know how.

among those who DID take notice, was Ferrari.

The funny thing is that most people on this thread as well as on this forum have NO CLUE the possible potential of hybrid technology (i.e. not just efficiency). I'm saying this because I know! I've done the analysis and crunched numbers and know the possibility. So, if you can't back up with any evidence than just don't make yourself look stupid.
