Expect to pay over $90,000 for the Nissan GT-R
Prices for the Nissan GT-R start at $69,850 for the base model and $71,900 for the premium model; but good luck trying to find one at that price. A top Nissan executive is saying that he expects a 10 to 30 percent markup by dealers when the car goes on sale later this June.

So if you want to get behind the steering of Godzilla, expect to pay at least over $90,000 or $21,000 over the MSRP. And no, that does not include...

Instead of blowing $90k on this ugly car why not buy your girlfriend a VW Rabbit and go to Hawaii for a month?

"...Instead of blowing $90k on this ugly car why not buy your girlfriend a VW Rabbit and go to Hawaii for a month?"

Here, let me edit that for you so it makes more sense coming out of your mouth:

"Instead of blowing $90k on this ugly car why not buy your girlfriend"

that should do it!

Because driving the GT-R is apparently better than the above, haven't you heard?

It's like going to all you can eat buffet for $14 and ends up paying $14 for food and extra $10 for sitting down. It looks great in ads but you end up paying a whole lot more.

that's expensive.

it definitely performs amazingly well. but nothing redeeming about the looks of the car. it certainly doesn't LOOK like $90K.

Only thing that hurts this car is that it wears a Nissan badge and a Nissan that cost $90,000.

Even a Chevy Badge Corvette doesn't cost that much...

Corvette has always been faster then anything that Nissan has ever produced. I'm sure that still holds true today with the ZR-1 about to steal the crown.

Well here's a question, since Vettes were brought up. Would you rather have a GT-R or the ZR-1? Seeing as how now, they're only 10k apart.

please don't start a vette vs. gtr arguement. they are both great cars, each in their own way.

The GT-R is undeniably much larger and doesn't look as much like a supercar, but the Corvette has the gold-chain-chest-hair stigma that I can't get over.

How often can you buy a car that makes you money? This mark-up is the exact and single most important reason I have bought one of these GT-Rs. It wasn't because of any of the numerous and staggering specs but the potential profitability, remeber the first NSX at roughly $60K. Having anticipated the mark-up early, I agreed and contracted to buy a GT-R at $4,000 over M.S.R.P back in December of 07'. If indeed I could turn even a $5,000 profit I would have been a good investment, and I would have the pleasure of driving it around for a few miles.

It's not too hard to make money on a limited production car with a high demand. It actually happens more often then you think. Besides, there's better ways to invest 90k rather then spending it on a Nissan.

you have only a short amount of time to make a profit on a car like this. In about a year, when cars start coming back on the market in pre-owned models, then that margin will evaporate and you will be stuck paying $90k for a car that is worth only $60k. No one wins when paying that much over MSRP. Ferrari can do it due to the agreement with the dealers during the first year. This is Nissan and they will find a way to mess it up, then everyone gets screwed.

" CNN reports that gas stations will start playing porn at the pump so we can see someone else getting screwed at the same time. "

Wait and see if you really ever get your car at 4K over - and don't tell me about "signed contracts" - the dealers have a dozen loopholes written into the fine print and in the end, you've got to sue them, which costs you time and money. I can tell you that Audi dealers gave customers contracts at list price on the R8 before the hype began, and many of their customers have gotten screwed.

If you want those type of profits you're looking at the wrong place. Investing in cars is the most risky thing. Go spend 90,000 on a cheap house and flip it. I assure you you will make more.

pcar4ever. good thing I never considered to resell mine. I had to wait awhile to get mine. Then again why would I want to sell it? I've only driven it three times because I work out of town. But after hearing the V10 model.....I am envious but still not disappointed in my V8 purchase.

Well, so much for getting a GTR now. This is kinda funny, because most of the people that can afford this car, don't know about it, and probably wouldn't spend this kind of money on a Nissan, even if it is a great car. And, most of the people that know about the GTR, can't afford it.

If you want a wild beast the C63 is the car for you. If you want a tamed animal then the M3 is the car for you.

The GT-R is not luxurious, doesn't have a supercar design, and an expensive Nissan(That performs awesome!) but when many hear of a 90K Nissan they are probably turned off by the pricing anyways.

because it's 30k cheaper and it's motor isn't even close to being stressed and can be brought up to over 600 hp if wantedor needed... thats why...

A Nissan executive making the statement that they expect the GTR to be sold at over list is an open invitation to the dealers to put each and every car they get on the showroom floor and take bids.

i would pay an extra 10k on this affordable supercar without a second opinion.
the GT-R is offering a free membership to the super cars club. for a price as cheap as dirt you can smoke any ferrari, Porsche, Auston martin Ect... which i believe they are the victums of the New GT-R that mr. Ghoson offers for poor people like me and you.
