The Ford Fiesta is one of those cars that promised great but didn't exactly deliver. At least in terms of sales. I remember on the North American product launch, folks were concluding that the vehicle was the second coming.
I won't name names, but for me it was funny. Though there's no doubt the Fiesta signaled a shift in Ford's strategy, the vehicle itself was never really set to have sales go off the charts in the U.S. And the reason why is simple. Space.
While it may have an adequate amount of space for some folks, you have to remember we're in the cheeseburger-loving, super-size me culture of the good 'ol U-S-of-A. Folks want their cup holders and elbow room.
Oh, and its dual-clutch gearbox was a sorry excuse for one.
It's been released for a couple of years now and doing just OK but now there's an all-new version. The Fiesta ST. Following the footsteps of its Focus ST big brother, it has a pair of Recaro seats and a much more sporting character. Hell, Top Gear just did a review of it with two competitors and even though its down on power, it did get the "W."
Sorry to spoil it for some of you.
More good news. According to Auto Express, Ford has revealed that half of the allotted production run for 2013 has been sold out. It only took three months. That's quite a feat.
So, when with the Fiesta ST make its butt stateside?
