Ferrari chief says there will be no Dino
The blogsphere still seems to spreading rumors about the smaller and cheaper Ferrari Dino. Even after Ferrari killed the rumor at the 2006 LA Auto Show clearly saying “we are not developing a ‘cheap’ Ferrari.”

Well as rumors start once again, Ferrari chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, is confirming the same. Ferrari remains a profitable division at Fiat, and the Italian auto maker has no need for developing a...

The Dino was Ferrari's step down brand... It was never called Ferrari Dino, it did not even have the prancing horse decals. It was not very well received by the fans.

I see no point in discounting the brand a la Bentley when you have waiting lists upwards to two years. I do believe though that Ferrari's of today are big, fat and bulky, developing a light and relatively small vehicle would not hurt the image.

Agree that Ferrari shouldn't pursue another Dino only because the classic version is a beauty.

...and enough retro people.

I respect the Dino brand a lot. I would not even call it a step-down either. At the time all Ferrari cars were powered by a V12, which the Dino moniker was used for cars using engines that had fewer than 12 cylinders. Dino went to school to become an engineer, which he influenced Enzo Ferrari to use the mid-engine layout. And like the V12 engines, all Ferraris at the time were front-engined cars. Dino should get credit for his influence; his impact paved the future of spuerlative Ferrari mid-engine V8 cars.

Now while that is a gorgeous car we all do know that it is what would happen if you took the front end of an Elise with the back end of the Cayman and slapped some Ferrari decals on it. Not exactly a work of Pinninfarrina, but if they built it... I would buy it.
