It looks even better with the top up... and even better in that blue than red. Incredible. It's absolutely stunning. And despite what they say, that this is not a Dino, you can def see some Dino styling cues.

Uh, no. I'll bet this hideous Ferrari is called the "California" because it was probably designed by a KOREAN in Southern California.

This is ugly. IT LOOKS LIKE A TIBURON.

Am I the only one who thought this was a joke when it was 'teased' last month? OMG, NO --- THIS IS REAL?

Hideous. Looks they had a "suggestion box" at the door and later said "let's have them all!". This thing has so many designs going on, their still designing it :)

I'm just gonna say what a euro-fanboy would say in a japanese blog. Lexus wants their exhausts back!

Maybe the exhaust are actually attached so maybe it's an improvment and maybe not a copy.

Maybe Ferrari designed the exhaust a long time ago and a Lexus spy ripped Ferrari off.

It wouldn't be the first time :-\

I like this car, but why'd they have to go away from the dual rear tail lamps? They look so much more "Ferrari" than the singles. Ohh well.

so the 612 scaglietti and the 599 gtb don't look ferrari to you? both have the single tails...i don't like the dual tails on the front engine cars, i think that should be a signature on the mid engine models, IMO.

>>so the 612 scaglietti and the 599 gtb don't look ferrari to you?

Not like the 575 did. The rear end is much more classic Ferrari. And it's not just the mid engine cars. Take a look back at all the old ones. It's unmistakable.

Gonna have to make room in your case, so maybe take out the '68 Beetle.

Simply beautiful (needless to say - it's a Ferrari), Except for the stacked up tail pipes, reminds me of that one failure (performance wise, and maybe even sales wise) from Lexus...what was it?... that's it the IS-F

From where have you found that ISF is a failure honey? From EVO magazine who gave 5 stras to M3 and ISF or from Topgear or C&D? 3 of the most famous auto magazines have praised the ISF. Where are you living ? On the moon?

Looks better in blue than the first shots in red.

GTR35

Failure? What are u talking about.

IS-F is not a failure, ok maybe not a ground braking start for F division but still very good.

btw now i wish, atleast Lexus LF-A three exhaust pipe shape doesn't get copied and it remains unique and identity/tradmark of Lexus LF-A but that's very unlikely.

are you on crack? this car and the 599 gtb are gorgeous compared to the 550/575 maranello and barchetta models and previous front engine models like the 456, which looked like a ford escort coupe. Name me a front engine ferrari better looking than those cars produced in the last 20 years...go ahead, I'm waiting....

Your kidding about the 550/575 two of the most beautiful and elegant Ferrari every built. Every Ferrari in the last 20 years is better looking than this monstrosity. Take a close look this design is complete contrived from other cars, a front end most recently used on the Maserati GT. Above the beltline give ways to a confused line that one dose not have to stretch very far to see Hyundai Tiburon. The backend is pure Lexus and I'm not taking about the blatantly copied stacked exhaust, but the carved lines from the current Lexus SC coupe.

If this car didn't say Ferrari on it, it would and should be deemed a design faliure. throwing various design cliches in automotive blender dose not a classic car make.

This car is a mess.

same designer from Pininfarina...Jason Castriota (born and raised in the Bronx!) was the exterior designer for the 599, the maserati GT, and maybe this car, as well...I'm not sure.

That swoop off the side gills into the hump over the rear tire is nicely executed. I bet it was a pain to manufacture that door panel though.

I'm sure this Ferrari will sound like a traditional one but naming it California in my opinion degrades the brand. Why not give it an Italian name and stick with tradition.

And you call your self an Agent? Ferrari has been using the California name since 1960s with the 250 GT. Besides, using that name is a privilege for anyone who is anyone. And based on your pic, you aint it son.

May 23, 2008 It is perhaps appropriate that just a few days after Ferrari released details of its delectable new California model, that a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder should set a world record auction price of EUR 7,040,000 (US$11,070,000). No doubt buoyed by its celebrity provenance (it was formerly owned for 25 years by Academy Award winning actor James Coburn), the rare Nero Black covered headlamp Spyder caused a frenzy of bidding on the auction block before being purchased by UK Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans

Okay, now I think it's gorgeous, and with that seven-speed dual clutch, it will be an absolute blast to drive...

Where does it really fit into the lineup, though? There isn't a lot of room in between the F430 and 599. I guess, for someone who wants a more expensive convertible than the 430 Spyder?

I thought it was to be priced below the F430 Spyder by about $20K?

What's the pricing on this car supposed to be? $150K?

+1 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
does it matter what MSRP on this car is? the premium will be 100% or more anyway....when first released:

F430 MSRP = $200k....dealer price = $350k

599 GTB MSRP = $265k...dealer price = $500K

I heard that it would be priced a bit above the 430 Spyder, and that the next iteration of F430 (whatever that's called) will become much more expensive, making the California the base model. Of course, there was no source to back this up, so we'll see what happens.

Convertibles are not sportscars, for one thing. Reminds me of a Clarkson review "...A Ferrari, for instance, is pretty much ruined by the removal of its roof. And so’s a Porsche 911.

That’s because these cars are designed to be the absolute last word in driving pleasure. If you take away the roof some of the body’s integral strength is lost and if you replace that strength with underfloor beams and bars you add weight. So either way the point of the car is completely lost. When I see someone in a drop-top Ferrari or 911 I always point at them and laugh. Because going out in a convertible 360 is like going out in a superb pair of trousers with a wet spot at the front."

I'll take the LP560-4 thanks.
