Ferrari wants three cars in the F1 to get Schumacher back on track

Ferrari is increasing its efforts for teams to be permitted to run three cars in Formula One next year.

Although Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo was “very disappointed” that Michael Schumacher won’t be able to race this year, he said that he’s anticipating that Schumacher will be able to do so next year. Di Montezemolo said in La Stampa, “I prefer three McLaren and three Renault to three ‘whatevers.’ With BMW gone, there’s not much to say but lots to do.”

I say stick with 2 cars. Running those are expensive enough.

you don't watch formula 1 then, because they have back ups for those cars and also another 3rd car that they used to run in friday practice. Also now that the testing is banned they use the 3 cars as much as possible in the preseason testing to develop their car as much as possible. So using a 3rd car would help with development while also gaining more points and more exposure and probably not as much money spent as you think

The F1 regulations for the 2009 Championship indicate that there is no longer a 3rd car instead teams are allowed to bring a spare tub and all the requisite parts to build a 3rd car. To increase efficiency teams essentially have a rolling chassis prepared. Unlike in the 1990s and early part of this decade, there is not a completed spare car for each driver or a T-Car. Running a 3rd car would be beneficial to larger teams but may outright countermand the FIA and FOTA agreement to reduce costs to mid 1990s levels.
I think it would be fantastic for F1 and the fans if the meister Michael Schumacher were to return to F1 with Scuderia Ferrari.
