A Toyota Solara or Lexus IS-F will outlast these two Kraut cars.

The R8 was so steady on the track, where the Porsche was shaking his ass down the turns every single time. I wonder if with a better driver you couldn't loose the Carrera easily on that track.

I'm not gonna lie, the Audi looks AMAZING, but I'd image it'd be a non-friendly car to own. You know what you're gonna get with a Porsche.

I'd gladly take either one though.

just curious, why do you think it would be unfriendly?
people say it feels like an A8 inside with all the room, and the interior is beautiful. Just curios why you say that?

The R8 is actually quite easy to drive, having more of a GT character (such as the M6 or 911 Turbo) than a real sports car (F430, Gallardo). It's quite comfortable and roomy- of course, this is what I've heard from the magazines. As soon as my dealer gets one in I'm going to make an appointment to drive it.

In Bill Gates' large selection of cars that he owns, he does happen to own a Lexus... But the rest of his fleet is filled by non-Toyota/Lexus products. Is that ok with you? It better be... Stop dropping names like you know them. I am sure he loves his Lexus but he would let it go way before his 1988 Porsche 959.

"Because all old people retire in a Lexus"

thankyou houston, you just proved our point.Lexus is for old retired people who drive like 15MPH under the speed limit. There a car only an old person could love! Good cars, but ZZZZZZZZZZZZBoring!!!

BTW, Bill Gates does not drive a lexus. He did for a few years, but now has upgraded to a 7 series. I know, I work for Bill.

He also owns a very special Porsche 959, and a few other sweet European cars.

I like the Porsche...especially with the 380HP power kit option. But the car was still down 40 hp. I must admit though. I like the look of the R8.

LOVE the look of the R8. The only car that (IMO) looks better is the Aston DB9.

If you give the Porsche the same amount of hp it will spank the Audi R8 easily. The Porsche in this clip was also faster than the Audi R8 in the straight run.

Look the alone the Audi R8 handdown, Porsche still remain king of sportcars. But for overall package the Audi R8 win handdown, both of the car performance are just incredible.

the porsche was not faster in the straights..actually i dont know which one was because all 3 times they draged the losing driver messed up and they even said it. The first drag that the R8 won, tiff started too late, and the other 2 were the porsche won plato missed a shift on both.

Anyway they are both great cars, but I agree on looks alone the R8 wins. Audi Made a masterpiece with the R8.

The R8 is absolutely brilliant. But I would still take the 911.

But it would be the Targa 4S with Tequipement kit and short throw shifter + fully customized via Porsche Exclusive.

Why? The R8 is faster, better-looking, more interesting and more exclusive than the Porsche. It's also far more luxurious and... it's just sexy.

A well-optioned Targa 4S will easily run you the same price, so I see no reason to get a loaded Porsche over the R8 with the same spec.

This is great. Porsche has always been amazing, but who would have thought, say 5 years ago, that Audi is going to show up and deliver a car this good and this sexy?

Well, there is no way they did this alone. They had years of experience with Cosworth and Lamborghini. And those are pretty good learning schools.

Mind you, the R8 is just marginally better than the C4S and the steering is still not as good as in the Porsche.

Just wait until the sick scientists from Stuttgart lauch their facelift 911.

There will also be the R8 V10 to crush any of those saying it's not as good as the 911 Turbo-- don't forget.

As much as I would have a hard time paying $136,000 for an Audi R8. They truly do look amazing in person in fact I hardly noticed the 997 Turbo parked next to it. When the V-10 FSI version comes out it will truly make it very difficult for Porsche buyers if its price less than the GT2.
