The Z4 drives well enough, but its proportions/detailing is exaggerated to the point of looking cartoonish (Note: 90% of the ones I see are driven by females of the 'trust fund baby' category).

The long hood is accompanied by a ridiculously short trunk, and 'flame-surfacing' is more distracting than anyhthing used to enhance the lines of the vehicle.

Understand that the 'hump-backed' 350Z is little better but at least it doesn't look embarrassing.

As for practicality (to go along with great performance), I'd probably go for the Nissan which can at least comfortably hold two normal size adults (and their gear) for a trip to L.A.

Funny the hypnotic effect that little Blue/White Roundel has on some people/publications... Especially European.

It completely clouds all sense of reason and judgment.

I was there once, but with an open mind/mediocre ownership experience - Got Over It!

Obviously you haven't driven both cars. not only is the BMW a better sports car, its a much better convertible; fast top, better wind management. As far as looks go, I think the BMW is a great execution of the classic roadster were as the Z looks like a bath tub.

My parents have a 2003 Z4 3.0i....it's definitely a quick little car, but their old Z3 2.8 was way more fun, and felt quicker and sportier, to boot.
