First Drive: 2009 BMW 730d
UK magazine Autoexpress has just driven BMW’s all new 7 Series in the ever so important for Europe 3.0L 6 cylinder Diesel specification. The new Seven appears to be a significant improvement over the outgoing car, with Autoexpress awarding the 730d a very impressive rating of 5 out of 5 stars. We don’t recall the outgoing E65/E66 series 7-Series receiving 5 from 5 at any time since it was released back in 2001 from a big global car magazine.

Points of note are that the new 7-Series is better looking than the current model and the fit and finish is very impressive. Autoexpress conclude that the 730d is nimble sharp, feels far lighter than it really is, has effortless pace, strong economy and relatively low emissions.

Amazinignoramus.

Why your obsession with knocking VW/Audi? The A8 chassis is all aluminum, something neither the 7 or S can claim, the Phaeton chassis is steel, so once again you prove your ignorance. But Bentley thought the Phaeton chassis was worth working with, as the Continental GT sits on it. Go a look at Top Gears tests of the Phaeton on You Tube, maybe get an education?

In the meantime the monthly check is in the post from BMW.

When the Cheetos dust is flying while typing such nonsense, does your Mom ever call down to the basement asking what's going on?

You're wasting your tie steve27t. The guy is a total moron! Why autospies doesn't ban him is a mystery. Maybe they like his useless and fabricated posts.

Your arrogance sounds a lot like 001's.

I wouldn't be surprised if amazinBimmer actually has control of a ban hammer.

I checked out the new pictures of the 2009 750Li on NetCarShow.com and one of them was a closeup of the integrated dual tailpipes.

And I found out that they're just like the integrated tailpipes of the Lexus IS F and LS...the chrome tips aren't directly connected to the exhaust system.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with that.
The IS-F actually has four exhausts behind the chrome. The LS looks great with the integrated exhaust tips...they don't look out of place.

Generally I consider diesels a wasted in passenger vehicles, but a 6-cylinder diesel for a full-size sedan isn't as bad as normal.

Being over second slower than the LS600hL and its barely cleaner than the V8 gas eventhough the LSh weights 300kg more.

I will give BMW the 5mpg advantage in combined mpg, but both vehicles have the same city mileage fo 25mpg. On the highway, of course a 6-cylinder diesel will beat an 8cylinder gasoline engine towing around more weight.

BMW still needs to be able to provide a vehicle that gives the same performance and mileage as the LSh.
I still question how much city/highway driving was done for the A8 TDI vs LSh comparison which I doubt will ever be announced.

That's like admitting that you are an idiot.

"BMW still needs to be able to provide a vehicle that gives the same performance and mileage as the LSh."

Huu, I've pointed out these Audi A8 diesel vs. Lexus LS600h comparison results to you before but for some reason it doesn't sink in.

"After covering more than 1,000 miles, the LS600h’s average consumption was only 19.4mpg. This is highly disappointing from a car that claims to achieve 30.4mpg."

AutoExpress' Verdict:

"This poor result, combined with the fact the Lexus costs so much, means the Audi A8 earns an easy victory here. Not only is it £20,000 cheaper, it’s also better designed from superior materials, just as fast and around 10mpg more efficient."

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/grouptests/211689/lexus_ls600h_vs_audi_a8.html

---

From AutoWeek magazine:

"Problem is, for a hybrid, this big Lexus turns in abominable mileage numbers. We couldn’t get close to its published EPA combined 21 mpg. In contrast, our long-term LS 460 L gets better than 27 mpg, while we only saw 21 mpg with this 'green' version."

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070627/FREE/70626008/1006/VEHICLEREVIEWS

---

And here's a review from AutoCar magazine of the BMW 320d with BMW's Efficient Dynamics technology that includes auto stop/start and brake energy regeneration and it gets a combined mileage of 48 miles per US gallon (57.6 miles per imperial gallon) and it does 0 to 62*mph in 8.1s! No hybrid can come close to matching that kind of mileage and performance.

Huu, you act like you are intelligent but your statements prove otherwise. You know little if nothing about cars and their companies.

You must have sniffed to much carbon monoxide from an old Lexus LS and suffer permanent damage.

I know what he drives and I'm not surprised. Little boys who grew up at a farm tend to like the more common choices...Jeep..Toyota.
I cannot even imagine how miserable you must feel, when your ultimate dream car is a POS Lexus.

Same old arguments (meaning you don't have one), nothing new. Knock the Jeep all you want, you know you want one too...if you could afford it. Go back to dreaming about the day you too will finally be able to lease a 128i to prove that you're just as special as all the other sheep who don't know a thing about cars.

Better try again ladies.

M53R,
I said I own a Jeep, not a BMW. If I wanted a car that catches fire or comes with airbags that don't work, I'd lease a loser BMW 323i.

"Jeep", more than BMW pretenders can afford.

Amazingbimmer,
LOL.

I dont know about your Jeep, but last time I checked, the plastic inside actually falls off after 6 months :)

btw a 323i is almost as expensive as a jeep grand cherokee V8 here!

Enjoy your jeep.

Huu is another classic example of someone with BMW envy.. He projects his own insecurities and failures onto others and his inferior automobiles..
