First Official Photos: BMW Gets Re-Freshed 2009 M3 Out Of The Gate Fast!
It seemed like just a few days ago that we had the first official photos of the re-freshed 2009 BMW 3-Series.

Now the updated M3 photos hit the net and here is your first look.

As you can see the new iDrive is in and the taillights are now changed.

BMW is moving super fast these days in comparison to the past where it could take over a year for the re-freshed models all made their introductions.

Love the new tailights on the sedan...mean and NASTY!

I bet you are blind to those plastic part on center counsel that looks even cheaper than a KIA.

Leather looks good though.

Errr... that would be console, right? I didn't know plastic came on cheap lawyers.

[taillights] avail on the non-m's?

Gorgeous and subtle evolution. I like how the tail lights are getting a proper "L" (one of BMWs many classic cues) rather than the previous one that gave an impression of an "L".

so bland and predictable and boring. What a great car but what a bore. Nothing new or exciting or cool at all.

BMW's interior does nothing for me, IMO.
It is so bland compared to the car itself.
Interior doesn't look the part.

maybe you should get a mazda.

Simple is in. Freaky and convoluted is out.

The point of BMW interiors is to not distract the driver from the act of driving. While they may not have enough gee whiz gadgetry for you, there are people who don't like screens, multi-colored displays and garish design.
Me, for instance.

@ gooch,

If any driver is easily distracted by the interior, they shouldn't be driving at all!
Yes, it's a BMW. And it's an awesome car. And I would have the biggest grin on my face driving one. But I HATE their interiors.

Right on gooch! The BMW interior is elegantly logical and brilliantly straight forward. I don't like the trendy wal-mart boom box look that is so popular with the asian rebadges these days.

I agree, BMW interiors need to come up at least two notches. Where's the carbon fiber or something?

Is it just me, or do the new iDrive control wheel and buttons look like Audi's MMI?

Yeah I noticed that too, I guess they realized their current setup is not that great (I have the current iDrive and though it is not as bad as people say, I think the quick buttons would be really handy)

Until the new CTS-V hits the dealerships, you might have something.

Me either! : )

I'm really into BMW. However, I'd take the C63 over this one. The C63 is one bad a$$ car.

Cannot say the same about the E92 M3 though, that is a different story. I'd take it any day!

Are you kidding me? The M3 is much better than the C63 AMG. BMW is way better. The new iDrive looks a little like the Audi's MMI. BMW is doing everything right lately.

BMW attacts clients who are top-level artists, architects, engineers, musicians, and many others throughout the world. I'd say you, Madwhatever, are likely the one not having a clue about style or taste.

Love BMW. The new tail lights give it the rear a more balanced look. The interior is my only concern. BMW's interior gears towards a minimalist look with clean lines. Which I can appreciate because I love the interior look of my E46. Having said that I think the M3 can use a bit of a contemporary update w/out sacrificing tradition. The position of the iDrive doesn't have a smooth flow to the shift knob and the overall face is too flat. Maybe I'm just being tedious but that's just me. I love the elegance of the interior of the CTS, it's not convoluted w/buttons, yet has an aggressive classy layout.

"point of BMW interiors is to not distract the driver from the act of driving"

Marketing speak for "we don't have the skills and the foresight to design and implement a user friendly and aesthetically pleasing interior"

last time I checked, BMW can't even implement a decent cup holder. I'll pass on the 80s interior thanks :)

I doubt you have ever checked on anything you blather on about. The cup holders are fine and when has an 80's interior ever had a large LCD display mounted prominently high in the dash design? Never. Then again, when have you ever let reality have any sway in the BS pouring out of your hole? Never.

What is aesthetically pleasing about the ISF for instance? The passenger side is a huge nondescript blob of plastic and the center stack is a cheap grey plastic field of randomly placed buttons. Both the gauges and the screen are way too low to useful to a real driving enthusiast.

Let's see, some think the car looks cheap, to much plastic, so buy a caddy, which is all plastic. Others like myself appreciate what a classy, very cool car this is. Iv'e driven this car and the only car I would consider other than the M3 is the 2009 911.
