First Official Photos: Nissan GT-R Embargo Broken!
Earlier this morning Motor Trend broke the embargo by putter the Nissan GT-R on the front cover of their December issue. Now as others do the same, official photos of the GT-R have started to roll in.
Here are some official Nissan GT-R pictures for you to drool over from the guys over at AutoWeek. More official information will come next week when Nissan unveils the long anticipated beast at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The Nissan GT-R will go toe-to-toe with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo. The GT-R’s twin-turbo V6 gives it a startling 0 to 60 mph time of near 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 192 mph. Base price is expected to be less than $80,000.

not sure that it looks like an $80,000 car, but i really like the interior, the exterior isnt exactly what i expected, but its different, in an 80's sci fi movie kinda way. impressive specs, it will def give its intended competition a run for their money. though the 911 turbo was obviously its target, i think the most interesting comparisons will be between the GTR, and the VETTE for most bang for the buck its hard to beat those specs for 80 grand, and the Z06, and upcoming ZR1 look to be the only direct competitor given price vs performance. cant wait to see the test...on a side note i wonder how amazing and fast, it would have been as a twin turbo 6

It is distinctive, and seems to 'play by its own rules' (design-wise)...

My expectations were put way high by the concept. The front looks like a bad mutation between a 350Z and the Evo X (at least the Evo kept its concept looks for the most part). The interior is odd with round vents but square cluster, and square shapes left and right for nav screen and vent. Call me nostalgic, but I actually liked the R34 from a design standpoint and straight six - wish Nissan would have either kept the R34 mold or make it closer to the concept. Agree with bmwdrvr - doesn't look like a $80k car. I guess it's at least a blast to drive...

This car is somewhat of a letdown. The overall design doesn't match the performance. The rear looks awesome. The interior looks odd and I'm not a fan of automatic transmissions. If the performance is as good as they say, then Nissan has succeeded in making the new GT-R.

This car has the "boy-racer" look nailed!
It doesn't pretend to be a luxury car, or a sport-sedan (like the G35)
This car is "balls to the wall" muscle car.

Where's the concept's front? I mean it still looks O.K. but not great from the front angle like the concept did.
At least, they kept the rear close to concept.

if thats your way of thinking, then...
the m3 is a 335 with a body kti and diff motor
the rs4 is a a4 with a body kit and diff motor
with tons of research and effort put into this vehicle, i dont expect it to fall short of its considered expectations in terms of power/times.

Well (this is coming from an Audi/BMW fan), that is actually TRUE. The GT-R, on the other hand, has almost nothing to do with the G35/Skyline (Japan).

The question I think is to M3 or not to M3... I love the fact that Nissan brought this car to US.
I like the interior better than any Porsche, yes enven the GT. And dare I compare it to the Audi's R8, which this would KILL.

The interior looks awesome - in the sense that the materials and finish looks of high quality (usually not all that great from Nissan).
The rear end looks awesome.
I agree the front has been de-conceptualized and softened, but still looks sharp.

I disagree--it's not a luxury car, and can't touch the R8 or 911 interior. But it's not built to. This car will be a monster.

how you can say match the quality of the 911 im confused, the 911's interior is not that great, nor that high quality, lets be honest if the 911's interior were in any other car costing as much as it did people would trash if for having way to much plastic, low rent materials, and a cheap one color for everything look. porsche can get away with alot, but their interiors have never been LUXURY, the 996 started the attemting to be more luxurious. and still the only 911 interiors that are, are the ones wrapped in leather or alcantra otherwise they arent much to look at or sit in, in a luxury car sense. hell the aluminum finish that you pay thousands for as an option is painted plastic its not even real aluminum. this GTR, i will honestly say seems to have a nicer interior the base 911, by a wide margin, and its desighn is close to whats in the R8, this interior really surprised me it is very impressive.

one of the magazines, I think it was R&T, got 4.2 seconds 0-60 for the M3. It's not going to be as fast as the GT-R but they're different cars. I'd expect the CSL to be more comparable to the GT-R since they're both track machines.

I prefer the GT-R over the R8. I love under dogs...and I think in this particular segment this vehicle priced as it is (80K) will be the under dog.
Hopefully we will be seeing a lot of this platform. Infiniti needs a super coupe.

Well, I absolutely love the R8, you know that. It's SEXY. Simply stunning. The GT-R, on the other hand, looks like it was engineered. It is functional. It is not beautiful. It looks MEAN... very masculine, not feminine and shapely, like the R8. I think the R8 and GranTurismo designs are more similar than the R8 and GT-R, because the Audi and Maserati both utilize masculine and feminine design elements.

Well, like all Skylines it's ugly both outside and inside. But we all know that not the point of a Skyline. This is a driver's car. No doubt about that.
I'm a bit sad there is no 2.6 litre straight six but that twin-turbo V6 should do the trick as well.
In Europe, if they price it about the same as a 911 Turbo, it will flop bigtime. In fact it shouldn't cost much more than 55.000 to 60.000 euros which is still ALOT for "just a Nissan". The connaisseur will appreciate this car, but average Joe will go for the Porsche or something with a good name.
Boy, I can't wait to drive this thing.

I don't like that grill! It's ugly and centered, much like Audi SFG only with no meaning or heritage to back it up. The same is happening with Cadillac (they do have a history to back it up) and Mitsubishi (their latest concept and the lancer/evo). Big grilles are "in".
Audi revamped the trend, after Mercedes invented it in the late 60s

I can't say I love this design. It's not pretty. But it is very cool... it won't age very quickly, like the R34 did. I think it will have a lot of "road presence." The interior looks fine (better than the Corvette Z06, which is one of its closest competitors), and I can say that I love the rear end. Wow! Exhausts as big as the taillamps- awesome.

There seems to be some very random de-boosting in this thread. Some people are de-boosted for liking it (like me), and others for disliking it. I guess the Japanese fanboys are always right no matter what, so they simply MUST de-boost the German fanboys.

I think lighter colors do not go well with this car. Silver and white might be the colors to avoid. Black and red would probably look awesome on this machine. I think if Nissan introduced the blue-hue used in the R34, will it resemble what we all think of when we think of GT-R.
Let us ponder on it. How many silver-colored R32, R33, and R34 GT-Rs are there? I've mainly see black, red, purple, blue, and white GT-Rs (oldschool) in photographs. When I think of silver hues I think of Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Porsche, which all have brilliantly shaped automobiles. With less than an evocative shapen silver might not be this car's color. All in all, any other color than silver and white might do this vehicle a favor.

Looking at the pictures up close and studying them, it looks like the car will use some sort of adaptive damper similar to Porsche and Ferrari. You can clearly see a wire connecting to the top of the shock tower in the engine bay image. On top of that does it look like the intake manifold seems attached to the shock tower hub? You can see a piece of metal connecting the two. If so, this means going aftermarket might be a painstaking modification?
