First Production Level X6xDrive50i TTV8 Spotted in the Wild
Spotted this first production level X6xDrive50i on the streets in Greenville,SC.This is a Vermilion Red Metallic,Non Sport Package, with 19" Style 257 wheels and running boards. The would be how the base model 50i X6's will appear when they hit the dealerships later this summer or fall.Once BMW releases Plant Mgr's to start driving these production level models home....means TTV8 X6 production is well underway. Thanks! its almost like a serial number

The TTV8 isn't part of the naming scheme, that was just the author's way of denoting what the engine was. Though I do agree xDrive50 is kind of off, I can see it on the X series SUVs because it would be a bit weird to see X650.

My question though is why do they add 5 to an engine to denote turbo rather than a T or something. (335 for example)

They are implying that the 3 liter acts like it is a 3.5 liter because its blown, but I agree that this is confusing and unusual momenclature.

because it has the theoretical output of an n/a 5.0, as the 335 is the theoretical output of a n/a 3.0l. like my old 745i was a 3.4l with 6psi of boost making it 252hp, which at that time was the theoretical output of a n/a 4.5l inline 6.

I am a huge fan of the FX but i have to say this car looks amazing in person....so sexy....its just a shame its 600 lbs overweight and apparently theres tons of turbo-lag from the TT V8. if u gave it a diet and an FX50 powertrain it wo0uld be sweetttt
