still looks like a minivan from the rear (same pictures are online everywhere). Styling is nothing worth looking at.

i chose an X5 over the ML in 2001, a wise choice, but I have to say this model looks a lot more muscular and its guaranteed to be a marked improvement over the old ML...I think this is positively a step in the right direction...Mercedes will do well not because its a Mercedes, but because it has to deal with dwindling sales due to the better X5 and new myriad of SUV's in the market, including the RX300, GX470, Land Rover LR3

There seems to be a trend taking place. Whenever a new model is launched, and shown on this site, we start with the comments. The comments saying that the car has this cars front, and that cars indicator stalk, or so and so's headlamps. Please stop! Your statements are false.

I look at the new ML, and nowhere have I seen any of those shapes before. It looks more like the current ML than any Lexus or VW product.

And I believe it looks very nice indeed. Chic, modern, with a nod to traditional styling cues but with very high attention to detail. Now for those of you who state that is ugly, where exactly is the ugliness? The Aztek is ugly, but does the ML look like the Aztek? No.

You do not have to admire it, but it is not an offensive shape, so how it could be considered ugly is beyond me. Maybe many of you are too conservative, but the ML to me shouts sophistication, style, and understated ruggedness. Be constructive next time.

The exterior: still the ugliest SUV on the planet
The interior: really nice! Still does not compensate for a punk-ugly exterior.

I have never been a big SUV fan but this, this.... This is uncalled for from a company capable of making the new E-series and the new CLS. Shame on you folks....
