First photos of the inside of the Lexus LS Hybrid trunk- One of the few disadvantages?
If we were to write an article touting all the advantages of the Lexus LS Hybrid, we could go on and on and on.

But the real question is-What are the DISadvantages?

Thankfully, in our opinion there are only two.

1. It's A LOT more expensive than the standard LS460L and for the life of us we can't really figure out WHY anyone would spend the extra money because the regular LS is a SUPERLATIVE automobile.

2. You lose a TON of trunk space because of the battery technology. If you REALLY try and are a super packing expert, you can fit 4 small golf bags.

Here are the first photos of the inside of the trunk of the standard LS (not long wheelbase) and the LS600 hybrid.

Obviously, the photos of the smaller trunk is the trunk of the hybrid.

Those trunk materials don't look that great.
I expected a bit better for a $100k+ car.

What is up with the Lexus LS fetish that this site has. I know Lexus is your sponsor but leave it at that. This is the only car since coming to this site that has than at least three galleries for its release date. I haven't seen one post with parking lot photos of a car for its release date. geez

If you don't like the Lexus articles, don't read them. No one is making you.

If Lexus is sponsoring Autospies, Autospies shows recognition for their contribution.

4 golf bags to me I think is enough space. What could you possibly want to carry that requires more space in a car like this? (and its rivals)

The reason i am complaining Lezusis350 is because i would like to see more minute detail articles like this about other brands.

One word Alec, luggage. luggage space isn't a function of cubic feet thanks to todays hard cases. I travel all over the world and two of the bags I take wouldn't fit in that trunk. Though the volume might accommodate, the shape certainly wouldn't. Custom fit luggage would be an extra bonus on a car like this. If it came with the car at no extra cost, the gesture would show to me that Lexus admits the trunk's short comings and they have a solution which is integrated. If the luggage were to cost more or not offered, it would say to me that Lexus thinks the customer ought to put up with the privilege of a battery.

There are two other disadvantages...its slower than the 460 and burns more gas.

Acutally, that's not true. It burns less gas (notice how it's a hybrid), and it has an engine comparable to a V12. The LS 460 has a V8. Maybe the top speed is slower, but acceleration/power isn't.

the v8 has 8 more horsepower its hardly comparable to a V12, and the hybrid equipment merely lugs around its own weight. Fuel economy suffers as a result of the added pounds.

EL34: this car will be a disappointment (trunk area wise) from your current F150.

Trunk looks like hell but the main disadvantage is the high cost of replacement batteries.

My main disadvantage is that it's slower than a LS460.
And in European figures, 0-100kmp (0-62) in 6.3 seconds is pathetic. A Q7 4.2tdi is just as quick.

I guess the numerous articles on the BMW X5 when it first came out will just continue to be ignored. One article for the cupholders, the new phallic shifter, the dashboard design, the folding rear seats, etc.

don't forget to mention the extra batteries besides taking up important trunk space, also adds hundreds of extra pounds of weight which will slow accleration times despite the 438 horsepower. If Toyota's battery technology could ever improve to where it doesn't take up much space and weight while still giving the 438 horsepower, then nothing could stop Lexus. But alas, that's one of the disadvantages as of now. It's also a problem in the GS450h.
