The Isuzu i-290/370 is pretty pathetic. It only sold 3,575 models and was still up 21.1% from last year's sales.

It's just a GM rebadge. Real Isuzu's havent been sold here in over 5 years. Its sad really, GM couldnt just let them leave with dignity.

Stash: no it does not have anything to do with it.
It was only on the early 06 models.
Production on the A8 is extremely limited for the U.S. The car is doing so well in Europe and with the strong Euro, production was cut for the States.
The car here is almost 30% less expensive here than over there....

The A8 is a pretty rare find on most dealer lots. Just about everyone who buys them gets them custom-ordered. As AlexTx said, they're not in high demand in the US; the easier it is for me to get an S8, then.

A8 Production was cut 40% last year. Alex TX is on the right track. So when you factor in the cut in production you may have an actual increase in sales but since they aren't factoring that in it appears to be a decrease.

One of two things will happen to the SC, and it all depends on how the IS convertible turns out.

1. They will discontinue the car and have the IS350 Convertible replacing the SC market completely.

2. They will completely re-evaluate the SC market and redesign it to rival something along the lines of an SL-class Mercedes, making it an ultra-exclusive convertible with a very steep price tag.

Porsche had to cut back Boxster production to accommodate Cayman production. They are both produced at the same facility.

personally, i think companies need to spend more on their advertising budget to promote specific cars. i'd be interested to know how much they spend on their budget and what cars they've been promoting the most. maybe porsche is happy how much demand/supply boxsters are at right now. and maybe their factory had to reduce the production of boxsters after introducing the cayman to the lineup. or maybe they forgot to up the production of shared parts between the boxster and the cayman such that there was a bottleneck in boxster production.

there's plenty of reasons why a specific model isn't selling as well from the previous year.

The Boxster & the A8 are the only two vehicles I'm surprised to see on this list.

I like the XLR & usually rent one when I go down to Florida, but when I get out of my 650i & onto the plane, off the plane into the XLR, I always say to myself how in the hell does this car have a higher sticker price than my car! It’s a handsome car that just doesn’t have the build quality for this class.

It sells because of Cadillac Fans and LOADS OF MARKETING

bmwdrvrbmwdrvr - 12/5/2007 9:29:24 AM
+7 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
the 650i costs alot more than the XLR, the 650i convertible starts at almost 83,000 the XLR is at 78,000 fully loaded, a comparable 650i run 90+, the coupe comparable to the XLR is still some 8-10,000 more than the XLR, so not sure where you got that the Cadillac costs more than the 650i.....the XLR is a nice car it just has shortcomings that wont be fixed until the new corvette is released which means it will be largely carry over for awhile. IT really needs a new interior, and fast the CTS seems to set the standard for American Cars, and the rest of the Caddy lineup is behind...

Unlike the Corolla/Matrix, Forbes didn't include the Cayman with the Boxster sales. I don't know why, because the Cayman and Boxster are more similar than the Corolla and Matrix.

The Matrix and Pontiac Vibe have more in common than the Matrix has with the Corolla. At least they have the same interiors. Corolla and Matrix have completely different interiors.

In the case of the Cayman and Boxster, they have identical interiors, identical drivetrains, and identical exteriors with regards to the front air intakes and steel vs. cloth roofs.

The SC needs a refresh. It still employs lexus' older looks, with the round lights and round shapes. I think the L-finesse or what ever program lexus has for its designs are getting a lot sharper. Not really a surprise.

Audi A8 Is an amazing car! I have 2 2006 model years A8L. It is a low production sales for US and poor residual lease values for the 08 models compared to the 2006-2007 models. Audi USA needs to do a better job of doing a lease for the A8L. In europe it sells extremely well.

It's not that bad, actually. Lexus doesn't advertise for it so they aren't really losing a whole ton of money and they don't make as many as they do their other cars. If you ask me, Lexus knows what they're doing with the SC.

The SC is just so darn pricey and on the use car lots the machine commands a hefty dollar, you would think with such poor sales they would reduce the car in value but it seems to hold up very fine with the geritol group especially?

"the A8 is a great car. every car in that price is good. But the LS is better, much better. Hence it sells ten times more. "

Please, prove it.

The Audi A8 has won dozens upon dozens of comparos. It has a similar amount of awards under its belt for excellence, in EVERY field.

It came in second in the C/D comparison, the Mercedes-Benz S550. The LS460L came in fifth, or dead last. It was even noted that C/D was driving a 2006 A8L, which had a 335hp engine, as opposed to the 350 it has now.

The Audi A8 4.2TDI beat the top-of-the-line Lexus LS600hL in an AUTOCAR comparison.

I am not aware of any other comparison tests between the two cars.

I have driven the SWB A8 twice, as my wife was looking at it. It was undeniably impressive. I am thinking of getting an A8 or S8 myself.

On a different day, we drove the S550, and it was just as good. After, we had to bring the RX330 in for service (the mirror had been broken in the car wash), and I sat in the LS460L in the showroom, to compare. To put it bluntly, the interior quality wasn't within shouting distance of the A8 or S-Class.

So by your logic, a Ford F-150 is much better than an LS since it outsells it tenfold.
Your circular logic is impressive (sarcasm in case you don't pick it up).

If I'm not mistaken, I will attemp to prove Bleeks' point.

I think that BMW AND Mercees outsells Lexus 8 folds each, worldwide... that means BMW AND Mercedes are both better than Lexus.

Audi outsells Lexus 5 fold, that means Audi is 5 times better than Lexus.

VW outsells Lexus by almost 50 folds, so Vw is better than Lexus.

I think GM outsells Lexus by 100 fold, so GM is better than Lexus 100 times over. They are also 10 times better than BMW, MB, 20 times better than Audi.

Not to mention, Toyota outsells Rolls Royce, Maybach, and Bentley by 5000 fold, so Toyotas are 5000 times better than RR, Maybach, and Bentley PUT TOGETHER...

I think that my next luxury car will be a Corolla, which outsells Maybach nearly 100 to 1...
