Ford Motor Co, which recalled about 11,500 Escape sport utility vehicles last week because of a fire risk, is pointing to a manufacturing flaw in fuel lines supplied by part maker TI Automotive for the problem.



Some of the fuel lines were "mechanically scored" at TI Automotive's plant in Ashley, Indiana, according to documents Ford filed Friday with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

lool this is classic Ford. Ok Ford, then who is to blame on your bad transmissions? and wait, a fire problem?? Hmm, weren't the old model Exploder, sorry I mean Explorer, the Taurus, Sable, etc... known to catch fire? Who did you blame then and if the problem was determined then (yeah right) why does it STILL remain today?

Bad design or bad manufacturing? Depends if the part was made to Ford spec or not. Would imagine Ford approved the part before using them.

Anyhow, its on a Ford so Ford gets hit with the bad rep. Join the club, everyone in the last 5 years has had bad fuel lines. The Germans, the Japanese and Americans.
