Ford’s Future Strategy
The world is facing high fuel prices, which won’t go away, so Ford has realised that it can’t carry on selling large pickup trucks and large SUV’s, as buyers are also starting to worry about fuel laws now. This has pointed Ford in the direction of a smaller future, by creating smaller cars and lower their sales volume. Read Article

Here is the deal Ford (take it from an ex-customer): First, stop giving the Europeans better cars than North American customers get. If you lose North America, you might as well liquidate or sell the company. Second, stop taking penny-saving shortcuts in materials and technology. I just bought a Passat which feels just as big inside as the Grand Marquis models I used to drive. The Passat has a better power to weight ratio while delivering much better fuel economy that my former Grand Marquis. The Passat is easy to drive and has seats that are almost as comfortable as those in the Mercedes S-Class.

Yeah bring the mondeo and the focus over here. I'd be in line to get the focus with the turbo 5 cyl, a cheaper c30, and light years better to drive than the focus revision 3.0 that we get here. Bring the falcon from Australia to spank the 300/charger and G8. Ford badly needs something to compare as GM and chrysler are offering v8 RWD sedans, ford needs to step up too. and stop using that hard hollow plastic on the mustang and F-150. I can't stand touching the dash because of the sound it makes. Do better.

Everything you mentioned is being done except for the Aus sourced Falcon, which is being replaced by a world chassis.

Their strategy should be to make money! Hideous cars like the Ford taurus, and new focus... is not the way to do it.

I rented a Ford 500 last year. My findings:
The brakes need a major rework, mushy and very little feel.
Handling could be a lot better.
Response from the throttle - not good. They don't need more power to correct this particular problem.
I'm used to imports (BMW, Acura, Lexus) and I know Ford could compete if they would take care of the little annoying problems.

You should check out the revised 500/Taurus which has addressed those problems.

You rented one-- now THAT is the problem. Mass rental fleet sales dilute a brand's resale so severely that it is almost impossible to believe! Example= Camrys & Accords recently being sold at auction from ex-rental fleets are lower by percentage than ever previously.

I completely agree about the Ford of Europe comments- why should we get generation-old technology when cutting-edge stuff is out there & available to be built for us?

Ford's future strategy should be to roll over and die.
