According to Mark Fields FoMoCo’s president of the Americas, the upcoming North American and European Ford Focus will share 90 percent of their parts and about 20 percent of their current edition parts.

Fields said that the the new Focus and other small-cars built off of its new global platform will bring in double-digit percentage profit for Ford as compared to the current North American Focus. Ford will first introduce the new Fiesta in early 2010 followed by the re-engineered and redesigned Ford Focus.

As far as the profit picture is concerned, Ford in the next few years will probably outpace GM and Chrysler.

My wife test drove of the new ones and it wasn't all that bad. We were looking for a car just for commuting purposes. I think of the Big 2.5 - it seems like Ford is the only one trying. The Euro cars get a lot of praise and it would make sense for them to bring them over to the U.S.

If they would close the North American design department altogether and leave the design to the Europeans they just might make something of themselves.

I'm astonished it took them so long to finally listen to consumer demand and bring over these products to the US. For years people have been crying for the Euro Focus as is to be brought here to the states. Especially that awesome I-5 turbo engine. Which you can get a taste of in the Volvo C30 if you wanna try one out.

It's about time Ford opened up their eyes and realized the American consumer does not want a new Taurus, or Fusion, we want the new euro Focus, and Mondeo!

Agreed, Mondeo and euro Focus are aweseome looking cars, inside and out.

Fusion isn't bad, but its no Mondeo or Euro Focus.
I hate saying it, but maybe Ford should drop Mercury.... and just have a stellar FORD lineup.

Neutral, Maybe Ford shouldn't drop Mercury. Maybe they should actually use it. In the late 80s, someone in the Glass House had that idea, with a 323-based Tracer (not an Escort clone) and the Capri. I don't understand why Ford and GM have such difficulties figuring out their middle-class lines: Mercury and Buick.
