Ford gave the domestic market a one-two punch with their new longer warranty for the upcoming models. With Ford announcing the new warranty on all 2007 vehicles of 5 years or 60,000 miles, which is a major step away from the standard 3 year/36,000 mile warranty; will this, be enough to help Ford win back a bigger share of the market?

Now nowhere near the warranties that are offered by the premier European brands, especially BMW and the ‘almost’ no cost warranty, the new Ford warranty reaches out to those buyers that don’t want any hassle or extra financial strain being that something would happen within the timeline of their ownership.

How important are the warranties when looking into buying a new car? How seductive is that BMW warranty when you are also looking at that Lexus or MB at the same time?

And……not that Ford will be pulling away buyers from either of those manufacturers, but will they pull in new buyers from the domestic market?
