Ford to keep Volvo, at least for now

Good decision, since Volvo is actually producing some very nice vehicles.

Nice Vehicles and making money. Two things Ford is struggling to achieve.

I still wish BMW would make a move for Volvo.

Volvo vehicles have superb seats but I don't like transversely mounted engines and extra charges for all but a few bland paint colors. I am happy though that Volvo's six-cylinder engine is an in-line type instead of in the V configuration.

You are aware that Rover, BMW, Porsche, and a few other charge or have charged extra for paint colors?? Such as beluga black or super black. What about metallic colors? A lot of manufacturers charge extra for those options. Hell Porsche will charge you $1K for a special gear shift knob!!

Doesn't Ford get the revenues from Volvo's industrial products like trailors and shovels, etc??

No, Ford only owns Volvo cars.

Volvo Cars is a company owned by Ford using the Volvo trademark, Volvo group is a company that makes boat engines and lorries etc, and owns other companies like Renault trucks.

To be quite honest...

Were it not for VOLVO and MAZDA (platform sharing), Ford would only be selling Trucks, Mustangs and (a few) Crown Vics!

Oh... and a dozen or so Foci to rental car fleets...

Smart, very smart. I can understand selling Jag Rover--they are very high-end and should only be in the hands of a skilled owner. But Volvo has a wider market and is more pliable to fit other positions. They also make some very good cars... which can't be said about Ford's other product lines.

I hope they keep their share of Mazda, too. Those guys are on a roll.

Jag and Rover should only be in the hands of a skilled owner?? What the heck does that mean? What you mean to say is Jag and Rover need to be owned by a company with DEEEEEP pockets and or not going through a financial reorganization. The same can be said for the customers who drive them off the lot, only to bring them back the following day for an "idiot light".

Funny thing is, I just saw a new GL450 broke down on the side of the road this morning. What a shame.
