Ford to offer fewer options and more standard features
FoMoCo will be cutting back on the number of available equipment combinations on its 2009 models. Jim Farley, Ford’s marketing chief, told Automotive News that Ford will reduce its vehicle order combinations by more than 50 percent. That means all of Ford’s nameplates will have fewer options and more standard features and you can’t customize your Ford the way you want it.

I'll be happy as long as frivolous and love-'em-or-hate-'em options are stand-alone options and not packaged together with useful options that people actually use and desire.

Ford's weakness is its car division. Everything else is fine. This is a good incentive for buyers to get more interest in Ford cars again.

I would have thought more incentive would be to give us cars that people may actually WANT to drive. Like importing or building their Euro cousins here to almost exact standards. Seems to be working well for GM with their Saturn brand using almost untouched Opels. Very classy cars with great ergonomics all around. Heck the Aura won 07 MT COTY. And the Malibu which is based on the same frame won this year.

Although Ford already knows this cause I am sure not the only one beating this argument to death.

I hate how companies package all options together. If you want fog lights and a sunroof you have to pay $3,000 for a package that includes everything else you don't want.
