No comparisons needed (except maybe the Gallardo Superleggera); this beauty is in a league of its own. Behold motor-sport perfection...

So you genuinely think Ferrari COPIED the wheels design from a Lexus IS?

All car designers look at all kind of cars, so it won't be surprising if a Ferrari takes an idea from Lexus or somewhere else. There's a difference between copying and competing, a lot say the first LS400 was a copy to the MB S class, but it really was not. It was a competitor a new taste of design in that category.
Take the Italian sport cars, they close in their looks but they're not copies of each other but that is the class they fall in.
And in short, neither Ferrari nor Lexus for the sake of the wheels discussion came up with such wheels, they only chose them from some wheels manufacturer, so neither one copied the other.

Xero,
THIS IS RIDICULOUS. Okay, so they have similar WHEELS! Why do you have to come into the article and annoy the hell out of us by saying something incredibly stupid, ill-conceived and badly executed? It makes all Lexus fans look like idiots. Stop while you're ahead- I've just come back to this site today, and you've already put me in a bad mood.

It is good, but the best in 2008 will be LF-A: 9,000+rpm, 5.0L v10, 570+hp, ~2,600lbs.

3,000lbs-3,100lbs is pretty optimal for a car like the LF-A; but Lexus will be lucky if they can even come close to that weight. It won't be 2,600lbs, that's for sure.

AutoExpress from UK reported it will weight just north of 2,500lbs.

570+hp is from RoadandTrack' insider inforomation.

So, because AutoExpress says it, it has to be true, right? WRONG.
The Porsche 911 Turbo and Audi R8 both weigh in at about 3,500lbs. With a much heavier engine (and probably more luxury electronics), Lexus will be lucky if they can achieve that weight. Stop making yourself look foolish. The LF-A will be a hot car, but it doesn't need to be super light.

A Carrera GT weighs 3043 lbs, there's no way this will weigh 2500 lbs. More like 3500 lbs i'd say. Unless they strip it of all creatue comforts, but then it wouldn't really be a Lexus would it?

Didn't you guys ever hear some material that is twice stiff as Aluminum and has tensile strength that exceeds steel but weight of plastic,a material that can be tailored for different strength orientations?
Carrera GT is old with a bigger engine, a convertible, 5inches longer, 1 inch wider.

The frame may be light, or even the engine they throw in the LF-A, but the leather, carpeting and luxury amenities will definitely not be lightweight.

It is stunningly brilliant! Ferrari track cars have always been much more hardcore compared to Porsche's GT and GT RS models. Only the 993 RS and 993 GT2 were equally stripped.
I mean Porsche 997 GT2 has 530 hp and a lot more torque but it weighs 1430 kg! For me that is simply too much! The current GT3 RS still weighs 1375 kg.. Bu t then again we all know how good Porsche is with weight distribution.
This could be one hell of a fight. I can't wait for a Top Gear comparo, last time the much more expensive F430 Challenge Stradale won over the 996 GT3 RS. On the top gear track they were exactly equally fast.

Too expensive to get me excited.
Not to perpetuate the Lexus thing, but if they do build it, it would be interesting if they tried to offer an alternative to the Gallardo (basically 200k supercar class) instead of a more luxury coupe, aka CL600...The LF-A could end up being another NSX - stuck in limbo.
Sweet car - but 2008's hottest.

Personally, I don't think it looks as good as it could have. The front air dams are lamborghini-esque, and it looks a little too tamed.

lol its so funny how the BMW fans have so much hate to Lexus and Lexus fans, look how they make fun of the Lexus fans when they say something about the IS-F and call them ignorants, but when a BMW fan mentions the M3, they back him up. lool
Now who's the ignorant here fan boys?
I always say, the truth must be said, as a Lexus fan myself, with no doubts none of the M3, IS-F, C63 should be compared to this monster, they're sedan and coupes, this is pure racing car.
Now the LF-A can't be compared against this either, cause the LF-A will be a lexury sport coupe and that you can compare against the MB SL550 the BMW 650 and the alike.
All Ferrari cars are build as a race cars in their soul, not fast lexury and that's a big difference.
So, both fans stop making stupid comments.

If you think LF-A cannot compete with it, then you are not a true Lexus fan. :) And to say LF-A to compete with M6 is an insult to Lexus fans. :(
Watch this and listen to the most powerful v10 sound. Zero body roll and almost no tire screaming means ultra light weight.

Supra- That video is very impressive. I will admit, it has given me a new found respect for the LF-A and Toyota.
However, I highly doubt Lexus will go for the lightweight sports coupe market that this f430 will conquer. I see it as being more of a mini McLaren SLR, which is not a bad thing at all.

I agree, the LF-A will still be a Lexus meaning that, like the SLR, there will be a degree of luxury involved. Performance wise it should be epic but I doubt it'll be anywhere near as hardcore as a Carrera GT, in which you have to be pretty skilful to get the best out of.
