Former Ford engineer charged with stealing trade secrets

A former Ford Motor Co.

product engineer, Xiang Dong Yu, was arrested for allegedly stealing trade secrets after it had accepted a job in China in 2006. The arrest was made at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago soon after he landed from a plane that had come from China.

According to a statement from Terrence Berg, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, a federal indictment charges Yu with theft of trade secrets, attempted theft of trade secrets and unauthorized access to a protected computer. Yu, a Chinese national living in Beijing, worked at Ford from 1997 to 2007. However, it was in December 2006 that he accepted a job at the China branch of a US company.

This guy will be a national hero in China; you can bet Beijing will be calling up the Waltons to bring their hero home or face the end of everyday low prices.

The sooner a trade war starts, the sooner garbage like this stops. You can bet there are thousands of examples of this going on that the authorities don't pursue and most happen domestically.

So be it bring on the trade war! America will win we can produce or own goods while simultaneously re-create new jobs that went to China,new jobs equal more tax money to fix roads bridges and help seniors and finance health care. Oh and lets not forget drastically bring down the trade deficit, put wal-mart out of business. Sounds to good to be true!

Trade war only means Walmart garbage will be coming from a different slave labour country. As long as consumers reward companies for exploiting cheap labour, jobs are never coming back (9 times out of 10).

FRAM and Quaker State still manufacture in the US (FRAM actually shifted production from Mexico back home). Most people can't be bothered to spend the 2 seconds it takes to see where their purchase is manufactured (assuming Gen Y and after can read).
