GM Announces Pricing for 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid
The launch of the world’s first hybrid applied to a large luxury SUV, the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, begins this month.

Escalade Hybrid arrives at Cadillac dealerships in the United States with an MSRP of $71,685. That represents a premium of only $3,600 over a comparably-equipped Escalade.

Almost $72k for a body on frame, tarted up Tahoe? No thanks. I'll take a GL450 anyday over this.

LX570? So I can pay $75k for a tarted up Land Cruiser? Come on. (At least your post made sense this time.)

Yeah right, what a way to blow $72k. As I heard today, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a PIG.

So combine cycle savings of what, 6 mpg (14 vs. 20)? So at $4.50/gal and 12,000 miles a year, you save a little more than $1,000 per year in fuel and you pay a $20,000 premium over a std Escalade considering you can get at least $6,000-$8,000 off the tag at the dealership and probably more. What's the incentive here?

If the batteries last 20 years and you have no major repairs, you might break even. Anyone that has $72 to plop down on an escalade could care less about fuel economy. Unless you are in traffic jam or slow traffic, you won't really get the advantage of the hybrid. Still, It's good that GM took the initiative. My suggestion offer the tahoe hybrid with less options to cut costs. Not everyone has to have every bell and whistle the tahoe has to offer. Offer one with fabric seats rather than leather, and take out some of the un-necessary options.

ok dipshit, go into a cadillac dealership and see how much a similarly equipped escalade is there days...maybe it's a $3,600 difference in MSRP, but I have a coworker who turned in an escalade and wanted a CTS and the local dealership offered him $12,000 off MSRP on a new 2008 escalade plus 0% financing.

Typical joe dumbass doesn't do actual market research before he opens his big mouth and just digests everything he reads as the truth...moron. Get a clue.

and I was talking about what you will actually pay in today's market smart guy because that's what people care about and the current market price is the RELEVANT price. A vehicle (or anything, for that matter) is only worth what someone will pay for it, not what the sticker price says.

So when all is said and done, in TODAY'S MARKET, a similarly equipped escalade is NOT $3,600 less than this hybrid hunk of junk, it's actually more like $15,000 less. Maybe when the incentives change, I will change my point of view. I still don't see the trade-off for an extra 5mpg.

Seems a little pricey. How many do they really plan to sell a year? GM should have focused more on improving cars in the 20-30k range. Add a hybrid only model for 25k. Poor use of r&d. Guess that is why they are not selling any cars.....

I had no idea people paid that much to show that they had so little class. And I'm just talking about the regular Escalade.

given how much an Escalade normally costs that really isnt that high....in fact its not even most expensive Escalade the Escalade Platinum is and by a large margin over 72,000 not to mention a regular Escalade can get very close to 70 grand .....
