General Motors CEO Dan Akerson supports a plan to raise federal gasoline tax by up to $1 a gallon to encourage people to buy fuel-efficient cars. In an interview with The Detroit News, Akerson said that raising federal fuel taxes will benefit the environment more than forcing carmakers to meet more stringent fuel economy standards.
