I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

GM, Ford brands beat Honda and Toyota in customer satisfaction
According to University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index survey, US brands have made the biggest improvements in customer satisfaction. While Toyota’s Lexus brand scored the highest, with 87 out of a possible 100 points, Asian auto makers struggled to maintain quality and satisfaction.

Lexus was followed by BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Lincoln and Mercury, all who scored 86. The Toyota brand itself, along with Honda scored 84, followed by Hyundai and Mercedes at 83...

the point of this survey: there's really not much difference in customer satisfaction from one brand to the next....5 brands scored 86...right behind lexus' 86.

those margins of difference are even smaller than JD powers dependability rankings. as with dependability, customers satisfaction is tremendously good across many brands.

on a related note, it's not surprising that toyota is struggling to maintain its lead. high growth rates make it extremely difficult to maintain quality.

This is because we're finally starting to realize that American brands are falling behind. I think some of these are the blind leading the blind here. So blindly in love with American stuff that its just idiocracy.

"So blindly in love with American stuff that its just idiocracy."

Do you, may I ask, even realize the complete irony that you can presented by writing that sentence?

It is sort of like the use of the word sesquipedalian- you have to have a propensity for it to use it.

Don't get me wrong it's a word- although not used very often.

I am not so sure that the definition is as you think it is.

teh:

it's actually the complete opposite: american brands are starting to catch up, not fall behind. buick just matched lexus in dependability, cadillac is winning customer service awards and american brands are doing really well in overall satisfaction.

it's taken much too long, but american automotive brands are finally putting out some strong products.

I was at their campus last month. I thought I accidentally pulled into the rental return lot there were so many Chevys and Fords.

Not to argue BMW's #2 spot, but this study was done by the state University of Michigan. Isn't the big three the largest (or very close to) employer in the state?

If this study was done anywhere outside of Michigan, it would be totally opposite...and besides this just shows that University of Michigan still believe in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. I am just curious as to how they structured the survey...probably domestically bias of coarse.

GM and Ford also beat both Toyota and Honda last year as "The King of Recall for 2006". Do a search on this website and you see and look like Ford is going to on that list again this years. Recently, I belief last week or so, didn't Ford recall 3.7 million vechicle because cruise or something can cause a fire in their cars.

When GM and Ford beat both Toyota and Honda on J.D. Power Associate than we talk.

um, did you actually read the jd power rankings? the difference between dead last land rover and top ranked lexus/buick was 3.98 problems over three years vs. 1.45 problems over three years.

i've said this a dozen times already, but all cars today are incredibly dependable/reliable.

Being that The University of Michigan’s National Quality Research Center is an institution of higher learning I would be very surprised if there was a bias in this study due to their location. The MSNBC artcile stated that they surveyed more than 11,000 consumers. And again, being that it's a National research center dedicated to Quality research I would bet they used a representative sample of the entire U.S.

Is it so hard to believe that US automakers could be improving? I think the bias lies inthose who visit this website. Deutschland anyone?
