I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

GM: Quality of volume cars must improve
In an interview with Automotive News, GM’s vice president of quality, Jamie Hresko, admits that GM has a lot of work to do when it comes to quality of volume brands like Chevrolet and Pontiac. Instead of just rolling cars off of the assembly line, GM is finally realizing the benefits of building a quality vehicle.

Hresko told Automotive News that vehicle dependability ranking is the most important of the various quality studies and it keeps GM’s warranty costs low while improving residual values...

GM may be making some progress in the quality area. My son's new HHR has equal or better the quality of my new Lexus purchased the same week a couple of months ago. I swear to this.

Vehicles that are technologically superior to average vehicles will inherently have more issues do to their complexity. I bet her Impala doesn't have Brake Assist or LED lights either.

the geniuses at GM are JUST STARTING to figure this out??? All the American car companies wouldn't be in the situation they're in now if they had stressed quality over quantity in the beginning. Chrysler just got sold out, Ford is in recall city, and GM isn't anywhere they used to be in terms of profits.

BTW, I agree with BMW995 that GM 'may be making some progress in the quality area', but there's no way you can compare an HHR to a Lexus! They're not in the same league.

Yeah, it would be nice if we could know the date of this "internal memo."

Now, I am not trying to say that all of GM's current vehicles are of Lexus or Buick quality, but GM has made huge strides in higher quality vehicles in recent years. As each new model is released, quality has/will increase 10 fold.

It's about time GM woke up and took a look at what real people want and need in their autos. Hats off to Buick for giving the Japanese a run for their money. The better the domestics get the better all the makes will be and we the consumers will win.

They are improving, my tahoe has issue problems except one... and that is that the plastic behind the right door handle went off.
