Stop drinking the koolaid and think for yourself.
1: Not every new vehicle must be a hybrid. Better efficiency doesn't require an electric motor assist.
2: Barack Obama will lose this election (assuming he even gets the nomination). Badly.
The point: think for yourself, and leave your politics out of car discussions.

Hybrids are not the answer. There a band-aid. They have there own set of pollutants, worse than gasoline.

Wow. If they can't tell that's the upcoming Buick Lacrosse, why are they writing for an automobile industry blog?

Just having a blog doesn't mean a person knows what the hell they're talking about.

Hey Hey. Religion and Politics are not for this forum. This is for car enthusiasts. Are you arguing about a Buick? Who the hell cares about a dying GM brand in the States. If you really want a Buick you should want the Chinese market ones. And unless Bob Lutz removes his head from his a$$, we won't see them.

Well since Ed Welburn and others within GM have directly stated that Buick in the States and China will share models directly I think you can shut up about Bob Lutz.
I mean if you want to comment on something you actually know about or keep up on then feel free. If you just want to trash an intelligent and powerful car enthusiast then keep it to yourself.

This is a Holden Statesman, a long wheelbase version of the top selling Commodore here in Australia.
The Statesman looks great, nice a big and powerful, I understand it's been badge engineered into the Buik Park Lane for china.
Word has it that it will become the new Lucerne, all you Americans will have a nice big tasty rear wheel drive to play with..... enjoy, we do!

In reply to 'american made'...
Just to clarify, the Lucerne is Buick's traditional premium large car, however it's front wheel drive, which is seen as a thorn in it's side. Holden in Australia have been at the forefront of big rear wheel drive platforms for some time now and from what I understand the GM of Buick, Jim Bunnell, is keen on replacing the aging Lucerne... hence my comment.
I am not too sure about the Lacrosse, however if it's along the same lines as the Lucerne I am sure it may be replaced as well.
Hope that helps clear that up a bit.
Have a good look at www.holden.com.au to see what you will be getting. The car has a similar presence of the road to say a Crysler 300C.
Cheers

crummydore,
Buick North America will not be getting anything Holden has on sale currently. The engineering for the N/A Buick large sedan was Holden sourced but the interior and exterior will be styled by the studios doing Buick China's studio (I think it is actually a global effort).
North American dealers actually opposed the idea of importing the rebadged Holden Statesman to replace the Lucerne recently, I don't have a clue why but that was their choice.
The current Lacrosse is gone really soon the NG Lacrosse will be identical to the NG Chinese Lacrosse which is on the Epsilon II chassis.

Reply to 91z4me...
I haven't seen all of the shots of the China Park Lane, but it appears very close to the Statesman bar the usual bumpers, lights etc..
Do you think Buick will go to the expense and trouble of redesigning the exterior and interior, when realistically they have all they need ready to go?
GM needs to watch their spend right now.... be interested to see what the result will be.
You look at the Pontiac G8, it's built on the same line as the Statesman in L/H/D form. The G8 is basically a Commodore with re-engineered fuel tanks
( I think, new bonnet, grille and bumpers.
Would'nt you think it would make a great business case to just copy the main body panels, make them all and build in America? it's working well for Toyota!
Love to hear your opinion.
PS - the story said it may be four wheel drive, that ain't happening.
