China - as it becomes more affluent - is going to play a much larger role in the strategy of automakers. As you read the article you will note that it has now passed Japan in overall passenger car sales. GM is focusing on this market to help fend off it's disappointments domestically. It is suprising to note that they displaced VW as the #1 overall seller in China (I would like to see Toyota and Honda's numbers).
