Who cares if I drive a truck... This America and if you want to drive a fire engine, have at it. It's like the douche bag tree huggers blaming the entire misery of the planet on Hummer, while they sit in their Hollywood mansions burning hydro carbons. Nobody bitches when a hot rod gets 11 MPG.

Who cares? Well, these are the same people that complain about how much it costs them to fill up their tank twice a week.

Employee pricing for everyone is next and then the poor bastards who bought a car one year ago won't owe twice what the car is worth instead it'll be three times what it's worth! "But hey they gave 10 grand more for my trade then toyota" I wonder where that money came from......

I still say a wagon is far more practical and fuel efficient. Then I can't really talk because I drive a land rover discovery, but I need it's capabilities in the terrain I drive through. I don't know how many times my land rover was the only truck to make it throught thae reough terrain even though all these American trucks have these big mud tires and suspension lifts. they still lose traction and spin one front tire and one back tire and the tires that heve traction get no power due to lack of limited slip diffs and diff lockers. My stock discovery pulled them out and went right through the spot they were stuck in with no trouble. Okay I'm side stepping the point here, but If I didn't have to go off road and I needed the space of an SUV I would get a wagon.

The music and sports industries must be feeling the effects of the economic slowdown if GM has to discount an Escalade.

Trucks will always be useful not as daily drivers but for winter driving or hualing.

True but an AWD wagon will do as well, or even better with the traction controlled AWD, unlike 90% of the SUV's that will spin one front and one back tire while the two tires with traction do nothing. I pulled a Z71 out of the snow with my 2wd volvo 242dl coupe (RWD with limited slip Differential) he was stuck in 6 inch snow spinning only one front and one rear wheel. this is where traction controlled AWD has it's advantages, it sends the power to the wheels with traction, unlike the outdated Domestic trucks, although GM does offer a self locking diff on the new pickups. It's the very reason my stock discovery with street tires embarrassed my co-workers jacked up chevy and dodge trucks with 33' and 35" mud tires with a 3' suspension lift on a really bad uneven mud clay mixed road. Unless you have diff locks, the 4wd is useless in ice and snow because the wheels with the least traction get all of the power while the ones with traction just sit there getting no power.

Well I don't mean useless, because 4wd does offer more traction, but what good is it against AWD if ytou can't get the power to the wheels that need it.
