Although rollovers only make up three percent of crashes in the US, they account for over a quarter of all traffic fatalities.

General Motors is in the process of investing over $10 million to study the effects of rollover crashes and while doing so, has made a pledge to outfit all their vehicles with rollover-enabled airbags by 2012.

Good to GM actively engaging in this pledge. Interesting picture of a 15 year old GMC truck..couldn't find anything better?

Maybe it's not the ideal test model but it's not exactly cost effective to test on brand new 20000$+ silverados.

that's like saying let's crash test a 2004 Silverado instead of the 2007 Silverado. How are you supposed to know how safe a car is if you test a different one.

Shows how backward GM is. It's gonna take them five years to get curtain airbags on just their trucks.
BTW, Honda alreay has them standard on every vehicle it sells (except the S2K which is a convertble).

Now, now, let's be fair. Compare the sheer number of GM cars/trucks with Honda..it will take time for GM to phase out the older models with newer ones with the technology.
