GM releases official teaser-images of the Chevrolet Volt
Following a little sneak peek at the production Volt on TV in an interview with ABC, Bob Boniface, Director of Design for Chevrolet Volt, wrote a little piece on GM’s FastLane Blog about the upcoming production version of the plug-in hybrid. Along with some words to let us know how work is progressing on the Volt, Boniface released two teaser images (one of the front and one of the rear) and a video of the Volt testing in the wind-tunnel.

The two images show the design themes carried over from the concept to the production version of the Volt.

“We believe the Chevrolet Volt’s exterior design is an attractive balance between aerodynamic performance and styling,” wrote Boniface. ”If you look closely, you can see the rounded and flushed front fascia, tapered corners and closed grille are aesthetically beautiful and functional, enabling air to move easily around the car.”

I hope they're working as hard on the technology as they are on the PR. It's really easy to say what you're going to do--especially when you're the company that was soley responsible for scaring an entire continent away from diesel engines. No one is routing for GM more than I, but I'm seeing a lot more hot air come out of them than intelligence.

GM's modified Malibu mules w/ the Volt powertrain have already achieved the 40 miles on pure electric (in a bigger/heavier chassis). I would say they are working on it more than most people realize.

There is an awful lot of talk as to how it looks instead of how it performs! MPG, 0-60mph, 60-0, .... All that I am hearing is corporate fluff! People that buy into this advertising are sheep.

This isn't a performance car. It is a halo economy car. It is designed to show off the technology GM is developing in a stylish manner while doing something that no other car on the road does. In many ways it is a testbed for a lot of technology and to a degree design.

Not everyone who is on this site cares purely about 0-60, 1/4 mile, and other performance numbers. Many care about the industry and are excited to see new technologies and design strains come along.

If all you care about is performance shouldn't you be on an SCCA website?

41z4me- I am suggesting that economy cars can out perform gas cars in all areas including economy! You are not the only politically correct greenie here! Ok I am proudly anti politically correct but I am all for good technology like PML's all electric mini cooper that has 640BHP,regenerative brakes, 0-60 times of 4.2ish and 80mpg when the gas generator kicks in, most likely to blow this volt away in economy and power! That is where I was going about performance, if it is done right you can have it all.

The Volt all depends on you point of view, do you want to pay for electricity? or do you want to pay for gas? Everything ends up costing you money in the end.
