To cope with the demand for the Buick Regal sedan, General Motors Co. is adding a second shift in the fourth quarter to one line of its plant in Oshawa, Ontario, for North American production.

The move will open up 700 more jobs. Production of the sedan will begin in the first quarter of 2011. The Regal, essentially a rebadged Opel Insignia, is developed on GM’s global mid-sized front-drive platform. Currently, the Oshawa flex line produces the Chevrolet Camaro.
