GT-R demo runs at Nissan festival
Nissan’s annual Motorsports Exhibition day is on again this weekend with this year’s event taking place at the Red Brick Warehouse and Yokohama Marine Disaster Prevention Complex in Japan. The free annual event is a day when Nissan shows off all things motorsport and usually sees a number of historic race cars pulled out of the carmaker’s official collection.

This year’s theme is all about the new R35 GT-R and to celebrate the race car’s comeback into the GT500 class of Japan’s SUPER GT series a full range of historic GT-Rs, in both production and racing form, will be on display.

A super GTR? Nissan needs to enter this beast in the LeMans series.

I'd love to see what the GT-R can do when it has to compete on equal footing with other cars...that means no launch control, no traction control, no sophisticated super-sensing all-wheel-drive...no DSG...etc...just plain 'ol mechanical technology.

Need4Speed,

Well that just proves who's better at 1 dimension of automotive technology (mechanical as you say). But if that's what you value, if that's what is important to you, then by all means.

Others however will have different values, different priorities. Some will view their car as a weapon, a tool to get them from A to B in the shortest time possible. Just like an M1 Abrams tank or an Apache helicopter, driver/pilot involvement takes a backseat to performance. And isn't that a valid way of looking at cars too? A car is a machine after all.

How about a race with everyone using Fred Flinstone's car? Surely that is an even more involving and challenging experience.

Need4Speed, are you saying that your Germen cars have old technologies that you want to strip everything off of the GT-R?

Hmm, well that's one strange request to me don't you think? People always look for advancements but you want to go back in time.

Last time I checked there were no racing series that permitted the use of traction control devices or any type of electronic aid that would cause an unfair advantage to any of the other opponents...I didn't make those rules and I would assume they are there for a reason...so I guess why not blame me for "going backwards in time". As a matter of fact the Japan GT series doesn't permit any of that stuff but you want to jump on my a$$ about "going backwards in time".

@Need4Speed

The super GT GT-R has no launch control, no traction control, all-wheel-drive or DSG.

I did mention that with the exception that I didn't specify "Super GT"
